The American and Swiss teams say goodbye to the America's Cup after being eliminated in the semifinal phase

Italians and Britons passionate about sailing are in luck. The Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli and the Ineos Britannia will be the teams competing in the Louis Vuitton Cup final, from which the rival of Emirates Team New Zealand for the America's Cup will emerge.

Both teams have emerged victorious from the semi-final phase after eliminating the Swiss and the Americans. After more than two years in Barcelona preparing for the competition, the Alinghi Red Bull Racing Team has said goodbye to the regatta, when Ineos Britannia eliminated them by five victories to two.

Like the Swiss, the Americans also leave the competition with the satisfaction of, at least, not having made it easy for their rival. American Magic was eliminated by five races to three, which prevented them from taking home to the United States for another edition the Hundred Guineas Cup that they first won from the British 173 years ago.

Thus, Americans and Swiss join the French, who were the first to drop out of the competition, in the previous round robin phase. Despite having been eliminated, the three teams will not yet stop competing in regattas in the Barcelona sea, although they will do so in other categories: the youth, which is now immersed in the regattas, and the women's, which will start in October. In both categories, the six America's Cup teams compete, in addition to six other invited teams, among which the Sail Team BCN is included.

After the elimination of the three teams, the two remaining in contention will go to the Louis Vuitton Cup final, whose races will begin on September 26. The Italians, who reached the America's Cup final in the last edition but lost to the New Zealanders, and the British, who won in the round robin phase, will reach the final with their sights set not only on winning this trophy, but above all on trying to snatch the also known as Auld Mug from the New Zealanders, in a final match-race that will begin on October 12.
