The Jardines del Palau de Pedralbes are once again dressed up this July to host a new and anticipated edition of Les Nits Occident. This series of concerts has consolidated itself as one of the most distinguished events of the Barcelona summer, as it is held in an environment that combines historical heritage, nature, and exceptional acoustics outdoors. This year, the festival once again presents a top-level lineup that brings together great legends of the international scene such as Sting, ZAZ, or Diana Krall, along with renowned national artists of the stature of Pablo López, Judit Neddermann or the solidarity return of Teràpia de Shock.

Beyond the great program of the main stage, the festival offers a complete experience that fuses the best music with haute cuisine and emerging talent. Before the curtain rises, attendees can wander through the illuminated corners of the venue and enjoy the Village space, an exclusive meeting point perfect for dinner, a snack, or a drink in a relaxed and exclusive atmosphere. An ideal opportunity to experience July nights in the city from a sophisticated, close, and rhythmic perspective.

El Poble Espanyol hosts the first edition of the Barts Festival. Its name comes from the acronym of Barcelona Arts on Stage, the venue on Paral·lel that for years was one of the main live music venues (today we know it as Paral·lel 62). Now, that spirit of proximity and connection with the audience evolves into a new open-air format, in a music series that will be held on summer nights in Barcelona.

This edition's program presents a wide variety of styles from great international and national icons. On the lineup, we find the sold out of Joan Dausà, cult proposals such as the BEAT project (with Steve Vai and Tony Levin) or the Gipsy Kings with Los Manolos, the pop of Charlie Puth, the rock of M-Clan, Shinova, Biffy Clyro or the legendary ZZ Top, the return of classics like Lax'n'Busto and Morrissey, the indie pop of Belle & Sebastian, the urban touch of María Becerra, the salsa of Rubén Blades and the tropical style of Silvestre Dangond.

The gardens of the Teatre Grec will become, on July 13, the stage for Les Flors Prohibides, one of the most impactful musical proposals of this year's official festival program. This show is born with the purpose of denouncing the forced disappearance of nature in Palestine due to the conflicts and colonization that the territory suffers. To this end, a fixed formation of musicians will join great voices and creators from our scene such as Anna Andreu, Clara Peya, Mar Pujol, and Cora Novoa.

The evening proposes a poetic journey that invites the spectator to listen to the lament and memory of the trees and stones (such as pines, sycamores, or olive trees uprooted from their land), which act as a symbol of the cultural destruction of an entire population. In addition to live music, the event will feature an artistic installation located in the theater's gardens to offer an immersive experience. An event that fuses the purest artistic expression with social and human consciousness.

Barcelona's Parc del Fòrum is preparing to host one of the most anticipated musical events of the summer: the Cruïlla Festival 2026, which will take place on July 8, 9, 10, and 11. This open-air, seaside festival will offer a unique experience with a luxury lineup full of great international and national stars. Headlining this edition are music legends and icons such as David Byrne, Pixies, The Black Crowes, Garbage, Suede, The Hives, Halsey, Reneé Rapp, Faithless, Two Door Cinema Club, Bomba Estéreo, Jovanotti, and Barcelona's Rigoberta Bandini.

Beyond the big live shows, the essence of Cruïlla lies in its multidisciplinary approach. This year, the venue becomes a large cultural showcase where artistic installations, dance performances, and a comedy program will coexist. Renowned stand-up comedians such as Ana Polo, Ana Morgade, Carlo Padial, Manel Vidal, and Joel Díaz will be in charge of adding humor to the festival nights. In addition, the venue will feature about twenty food trucks with gastronomic proposals from around the world and options for all types of diets.

The Sala Beckett is the stage for Anatomia de Ricard, a theatrical diptych by the company À Trois Teatre. With dramaturgy by Gerard Guix and under the direction of Montse Rodríguez i Clusella, this proposal takes inspiration from the mythical character of Richard III by William Shakespeare to pose uncomfortable questions about how a monster is created and what scars accompany it. The project stems from the recovery of Ricard de 3º, the success originally premiered in 2015 at the Sala Beckett about an introspective teenager who used manipulation to achieve his goals, and is completed with a second newly created piece that expands this universe.

This sequel, titled Ricard 111, brings back the same character in his maturity, played again by the actor from the original production, Quim Ávila. The old high school obsession has given way to a 111-year prison sentence, where the protagonist lives with a normality surrounded by books, routines, and a sepulchral silence while being forced to assume responsibility for his crimes. Both works function as independent pieces that can be enjoyed separately without order of preference, although the theater offers the possibility of experiencing the complete experience through a double program.

The Condal Theater becomes this summer the showcase of the universe of Kulunka Teatro, the Basque company that uses mask theater and wordless art, to transmit stories full of depth and emotion. Throughout this month, the Hernani-based company presents a trilogy of three completely independent shows that can be enjoyed on their own and that stand out for their great visual strength. The cycle begins with André y Dorine (until July 9), continues with Solitudes, a piece awarded several Max Awards that premieres for the first time in the city (from July 10 to 19), and closes with Forever (from July 22 to August 2), which already captivated audiences at the last edition of the Grec Festival.

The performers Garbiñe Insausti, Edu Cárcamo and José Dault manage to connect with the audience through a universal language that has already traveled through more than 40 countries, from New York to Shanghai. This trilogy becomes a magnificent opportunity to reflect on family relationships, loss, memory, and frustrated desires from a different and unforgettable perspective.

The Teatre Romea becomes the stage for one of the most innovative theatrical proposals of Grec 2026 with the performance of El retrat de Dorian Gray, a production that can be seen on the Barcelona billboard until August 2, 2026. In this piece, actress Àngels Gonyalons undertakes a true interpretive tour de force by stepping into the shoes of Oscar Wilde himself to defend his controversial novel from the attacks of critics of the time. Through her sole voice, the actress will display the entire gallery of characters from the work: from the young and envious Dorian, passing through the painter Basil or the fragile Sybil, to the depraved dandy Lord Henry.

With careful dramaturgy and direction by Marc Rosich, the show is conceived as a chamber piece where the text organically merges with the original music by Jordi Cornudella, performed live by a string quintet and a male vocal trio. The cult of youth, individualism, and narcissism present in Oscar Wilde's classic resonate strongly in our current society, governed by the tyranny of image, the aesthetics of social networks, and the obsession with the latest novelty.

The Teatre La Biblioteca becomes this summer the stage for one of the most monumental bets of the Grec 2026 with the premiere of L'Albada, the new production by La Perla 29 which can be seen from June 25 to July 30, 2026. Under the direction of Oriol Broggi and written by Jaume Viñas, this text comes to life through a company of eleven performers (with names like Patrícia Bargalló, Ramon Vila or Noël Olivé) in a large-format production that lasts up to three hours and forty minutes with an intermission included. The plot is set in the midst of the pre-Olympic euphoria of Barcelona in '92, where Alba, a final-year history student, begins an academic and personal search that will lead her to uncover the darkest secrets of modern Spain.

This puzzle is presented as a contemporary tragedy that travels freely in time and space, connecting the ravages of the Civil War and the post-war period with the Transition and the Olympic euphoria. Through a cross of languages, characters, poems and music, the piece manages to capture the inherited pain and silence that has been passed down from generation to generation. L'Albada is an emotional and poignant journey that rebels against oblivion and fear, reminding us that the traumas of the past can only be overcome with the help of others.

Miquel Barceló is one of the great names in contemporary Catalan art, and his name appears among the artists pre-selected to elaborate an artistic proposal to finish sculpting the beauty of the Glory façade of the Sagrada Familia. While it is being decided whether he will finally participate in Gaudí's temple, the artist presents in Barcelona his first exhibition in a city gallery since the 90s. Specifically, the Mallorcan painter fills the Artur Ramon Art gallery with about thirty unpublished engravings made between 2010 and 2026. The works, produced in the workshop of Joan Romà and Takeshi Motomiya, explore some of the universes that most fascinate the artist: marine beings such as fish, crustaceans and octopuses, as well as plants, landscapes and even portraits of famous writers.

The Tres Xemeneies of Sant Adrià de Besòs —popularly known as "the Sagrada Familia of the workers"— have been for decades one of the great symbols of the metropolitan industrial landscape. A former thermal power plant until 2011, the building shares with Gaudí's temple an imposing presence that marks the horizon and, now also, a new stage of transformation and construction works. After years of uncertainty and future projects that have prevented its demolition, the space partially reopened with the Manifesta art biennial and is preparing to become the future audiovisual hub Catalunya Media City. Meanwhile, it has been one of the main venues for the World Congress of Architecture, which this week has brought together more than 10,000 professionals from 130 countries to reflect on the future of architecture. Once the congress is over, the building opens its facilities and the exhibition that has been part of the event to the public, offering a new way to delve into this iconic space in full transformation.

When a photograph comes out blurry, it is often considered a failed image. But what if the lack of sharpness could also be a form of artistic expression? This is the idea proposed by Blurred. Another Vision of Art, the new exhibition at CaixaForum Barcelona —produced in collaboration with the Musée de l'Orangerie—, which invites us to rethink the value of blur and imprecision as an artistic language. The exhibition starts from Claude Monet's iconic images of water lilies, which opened the door to this technique in modern art, but brings together up to 77 works by 58 artists. From painting and photography to sculpture and video, with names like Turner, Mark Rothko, and Alberto Giacometti. An exhibition that challenges the idea of visual perfection and proposes another way of looking, even if the images are not entirely clear.

Art can appear when you least expect it. In the dentist's waiting room, between mirrors in a hair salon, while having a coffee, or even in a cemetery. This is the premise of A Museum Outside the Museum, the project with which MACBA takes a part of its collection out of its usual exhibition spaces to install it in about thirty places throughout Catalonia. Photographs, videos, and other works by artists such as Fina Miralles, Joan Brossa, Colita, Bruce Nauman, or Ana Müller coexist with everyday life in spaces as diverse as the Lleida funeral home, Salvador Dalí's birthplace in Empordà, or, in Barcelona, the Biblioteca de Catalunya or the Öss Kaffe cafeteria. The initiative claims that contemporary art does not need to be hung between the four walls of a museum to surprise or move: it can also be found in the most unexpected and everyday places.

Emerging art is often associated with youth, but this label goes far beyond age: it speaks of languages, gazes, and forms of expression that define this new generation of creators. Precisely the quality of the works of these young creators is what Art Nou vindicates, the festival that every summer spreads through art galleries in Barcelona and L'Hospitalet de Llobregat. In its 15th edition, the event brings together more than 110 artists in a program that extends through 21 galleries, 23 independent spaces, and five institutions, with exhibitions, performances, and activities. In addition to an opportunity to discover emerging talent, Art Nou also invites to cross the threshold of galleries and art spaces that, too often, go unnoticed on the city's cultural map.

Can connections between artists and their works be recovered, even when they are no longer present? And what role can generative artificial intelligence or 3D scanning play in this reconstruction process? These questions are the starting point of the new exhibition occupying the second floor of Casa Batlló, a proposal that revisits the invisible thread between architect Antoni Gaudí, painter Joan Miró, and photographer Joaquim Gomis. New technologies allow us to go beyond what is visible to the naked eye and analyze the forms and internal processes of the works to discover unexpected affinities. In this way, common interests and themes emerge—despite working with very different languages and disciplines—which are now made visible at Casa Batlló.

Sala Apolo is one of the essential venues of Barcelona's nightlife and one of the neuralgic points of the city's music scene. Local and international artists have passed through its halls, and they have been a dance stage for several generations of Barcelona residents. Now, however, the venue is preparing to transform, for the first time, into an open-air cinema with In-Edit, the festival dedicated to musical documentary cinema. Sala 3 of Apolo, the only open-air venue, will host every Monday in July and August a selection of the best films that have passed through In-Edit since its inception in 2003. In addition to the screenings, each session will feature pre-DJ sessions, turning the wait into part of the experience, offering a new way to face summer Mondays.

21 days are enough to acquire a habit. It is not strange, then, that with more than 20 editions (specifically 24), the open-air film festival Sala Montjuïc has turned Montjuïc Castle into a regular space for summer nights in Barcelona. After a year in which the festival had to temporarily move from the Santa Eulalia Moat to the industrial complex of the Tres Chimeneas in Sant Adrià de Besòs due to the castle's rehabilitation works, this summer it returns home and reclaims its usual space. It will do so with a new program that travels from acclaimed titles such as Marty Supreme, Hamnet or Valor sentimental, passing through Spanish productions such as Los domingos or Tres adioses, and without forgetting classics like Thelma & Louise.

The year 2026 is a year in which all eyes are focused on a major event: the celebration of Gaudí Year, commemorating the centenary of the death of architect Antoni Gaudí. Activities and tributes around his figure occupy a good part of Catalonia's cultural agenda, but he is not the only big name marking this year, which also celebrates the centenary of the birth of poet Blai Bonet, considered one of the great renovators of 20th-century Catalan poetry. Throughout the year, various activities have been programmed to highlight his work, from a traveling exhibition that covers his career —and which this July arrives in the Terres de l'Ebre— to recitals that revisit his verses. This July, one of the most emotional events of the commemoration takes place: the recital that brings together theater performers such as Mercè Sampietro, Sílvia Bel, Toni Gomila, and Jaume Madaula to give voice to his words.

"More poetry, please." With this motto, the Poesia i + festival once again unfolds for another summer to reclaim the power of poetry aloud and its ability to connect with other disciplines. Since its origins in Caldes d'Estrac in 2003, the festival has spread through the towns of Maresme, consolidating itself as one of the essential literary events of the summer. This year, the festival's call for "more poetry" is also joined by the conviction that beauty can be a way to resist in an unstable world, through literature and the arts. The festival will defend this power of poetry with the voices of some thirty writers and creators, such as Maria Sevilla, Martí Sales, or Júlia Barbany, but also with proposals from musicians like Ouineta or Magalí Sare, choreographers like Marcos Morau (director of La Veronal), or even filmmaker Albert Serra.

The Eixample will transform this summer into a large open-air stage with the celebration of the Tangent 2026 Festival, which this year blows out the candles for its 10th anniversary. From June 30 to July 23, this series turns interior courtyards into concert halls, squares into dance spaces, and streets into open-air theaters, to offer a total of 16 completely free shows. The series is jointly organized by the 6 civic centers of the district and invites residents and visitors to approach live arts.

The program for this special edition kicks off in the Fort Pienc square and will be distributed through emblematic corners such as Casa Elizalde, the Sant Antoni Market, or Cotxeres Borrell. The public will be able to enjoy contemporary proposals ranging from the flamenco circus of Chicharrón and the memory theater of Mudanzas Portas, to concerts by Guillem Roma, Laaza, Lorena Álvarez or the grand finale in the Sagrada Familia square by the Lleida-based Renaldo & Clara. An ideal proposal to experience kilometer zero culture during sixteen unforgettable summer nights.

The Parc de l'Estació del Nord will host, once again, one of the most consolidated major summer events by the company Parking Shakespeare. This year, it brings to the stage one of the English playwright's most introspective tragedies: Hamlet. The performances, completely free and outdoors, can be seen from July 9 to August 3, 2026, every day at 7:00 p.m. (except Tuesdays and Wednesdays).

This new adaptation draws on the darkness and irony of the original work to reflect on what it means to act when the entire system is rotten. On stage we will see a whole gallery of characters marked by suspicion, revenge, desire, and guilt in a world permeated by corruption. The project, created by Pep Garcia-Pascual in 2009 and inspired by the Irish tradition of performing theater in public parks, has already become a true classic of the Barcelona summer, and has accumulated thirty shows and more than 60,000 spectators throughout its trajectory.
