Everything is ready for October 10, when prominent women from all fields in Catalonia will gather thanks to the promoters of Suquet de Dones and within the framework of the America's Cup. The promoters, the Ànimes del Suquet, have called the meeting with the aim of generating a valuable networking space, and going further to fill it with content, with interventions by various female leaders who will present their trajectories and experiences.
The event, at the Llotja de Mar and accessible only by personal invitation from one of the ten promoters, has been conceived as a daytime cocktail format with content capsules. "The objective is to connect leading women who can generate business among themselves, whether through contacts, influence, or resources," explain the event's promoters to The New Barcelona Post.
Named Ànimes de Barcelona, the event will also have a highlight moment when it welcomes the members of the women's team who will compete in the America's Cup with Sail Team BCN. With this recognition, the event will highlight the contribution of the sailors, who will make history by competing in the first edition of the women's category of the most relevant global nautical competition, which will begin just three days after the meeting.
Politician and professor Isabel Tocino, political scientist and advisor Verónica Fumanal, and sommelier Meritxell Falgueras will share their experiences with the attendeesIn addition to this welcome and brief but relevant interventions, the meeting aims to become a key point ofnetworkingfor female leaders. Thus, it will serve as a space for interaction between women designed to weave networks, with which to gain contacts, influence, financing or investment opportunities:"We have devised the cocktail so that things can happen there."
Beyond networking and to provide quality content to the event, the promoters have planned the intervention of Isabel Tocino, vice president and director of Banco Santander. The former Minister of Environment and member of the Council of State will present her financial vision alongside one of the promoters of the meeting, businesswoman Mar Alarcón.
For her part, another of the Ànimes del Suquet, the corporate strategy director and former minister Àngels Chacón, will converse with political scientist and advisor Verónica Fumanal. The former communications director for Pedro Sánchez will discuss her career and her perspective on how to lead, which she also covers in her recent book El poder de la influencia: Así se construye un liderazgo.
The event will include the presentation of the new United States consul in BarcelonaAnother of the protagonists of the meeting will be the journalist and sommelier Meritxell Falgueras,who will share her experience in the world of wine with the leading women who will attend the event. The importance of women's role in society and the economy will also be reflected in other aspects of the event, also in the enological field: all the wineries participating in the event are led by women.
In addition, during the event, the new US Consul in Barcelona, Lia Miller, who took office in August, will be introduced. And it is that "it is interesting to put businesswomen and civil society in contact with the American representative in the city," defend the promoters of the event.
Diversity among the 300 attendees
Ànimes Barcelona 2024 will be the second meeting promoted by this influential women's forum, after the one held in Lloret de Mar a year ago. That first event, which took place in March 2023, facilitated the impulse of new companies, projects, financing rounds, and business and personal collaborations among the more than 300 attendees who came to the meeting.
Given the success of this first call, the Ànimes del Suquet decided to organize the one that will now take place in the Catalan capital. Along with Chacón and Alarcón, the Ànimes del Suquet include Olga Reixach; former minister and former vice-president of the Government Joana Ortega; businesswoman and lawyer Maria Teixidor, and labor lawyer and vice-president of Pimec Emma Gumbert, as well as the Managing Director at Losberger De Boer, Mónica Melero, and the Destination and Sponsorship Manager Patricia Rodríguez. Also included among the promoters of the event are the CEO and founder of the corporate diplomacy consultancy Diplocorp, Erika Torregrossa, as well as the executive president of Manix Capital and founder of Fibracat, Meritxell Bautista.

Thus, the organizers will be the ones to select the 300 guests, seeking a diversity that also characterizes the driving group.
"We want transversality and balance in the guests," they emphasize. Thus, women who are references for their projects and their leadership from all sectors will attend, including the cultural field, with figures such as Montse Aguer, director of Museus Dalí, in a year in which the Dalí Theatre-Museum in Figueres celebrates half a century of history. The objective is to bring together female leaders from diverse fields in the same space, in a day designed to connect influential and reference women and to weave networks and synergies that contribute to propelling their projects and to exalting and making their work visible.
