A new weekend begins and, with it, a range of fun, interesting, and surprising plans. One of the most anticipated moments is, without a doubt, the experiment that the creator Angélica Liddell will carry out within the framework of the Grec Festival, presenting a proposal that will take place at 4:45 AM. Yes: you read that right!

But also, in the coming days, we will be able to enjoy live concerts such as the anticipated Morrissey concert at the BARTS Festival, or Sébastien Tellier's at the Teatre Grec. This weekend we will sing, dance, get emotional, and laugh with the best of the local and international cultural scene.

Nexo Contemporary Circus Festival

All weekend.

Fabra i Coats opens its doors to a new edition of the Nexo Festival, a meeting point dedicated to artistic research, creation processes, and contemporary circus. Throughout the weekend, the venue becomes a vibrant space where artists, researchers, and performing arts lovers gather to discover new forms of expression.

Forever by Kulunka Teatro at Teatre Condal

All weekend.

From July 22 to August 2, the company Kulunka Teatro presents this multi-award-winning mask show (Max Awards and Talía 2024) at Teatre Condal. The play takes place on a revolving platform and uses a cinematic language to reflect on lack of communication, motherhood, education, and the contradictions of love within a family.

Yamato presents Hinotori (The Wings of the Phoenix)

All weekend.

Until August 2, Yamato, the renowned Japanese taiko drum group, returns to the Teatre Apolo to offer a percussion show of extraordinary physical and acoustic intensity. They present a repertoire of nine energetic pieces, including Habataki, Toon, and Netsujoh. The group offers a physical and emotional journey about struggle, survival, and the ability to rise from one's own ashes when all seems lost.

Hamlet with Parking Shakespeare at Parc Estació del Nord

All weekend.

From Thursday to Sunday at 7:00 p.m., the company Parking Shakespeare brings an open-air version of Shakespeare's great tragedy to the Parc Estació del Nord: Hamlet. It is a version that features its usual fresh, dynamic, and lighthearted style to transform the famous palace tragedy into a theatrical game full of irony, humor, and rhythm. The proposal dismantles the clichés of the classic to offer an agile and hilarious show that demonstrates that even the greatest political corruption can be fought with a good dose of laughter.

Seppuku, Mishima's funeral by Angélica Liddell

Friday 24 and Saturday 25 July.

At 4:45 a.m., an entirely unusual time to see theater, Angélica Liddell will present her particular Japanese ritual on the stage of the Lliure. The creator presents Seppuku, a piece that closes her trilogy on death after having analyzed the funerals of Blixen and Bergman. Coinciding with the centenary of the birth of the Japanese author Yukio Mishima, Liddell transforms the writer's ritual suicide into scenic material. The result is a monologue and a radical and overwhelming experience that contrasts eroticism, pain, and violence to reclaim death as the ultimate act of freedom.
