Uriach buys German natural medicine company Pascoe

The acquisition of the family company, with an annual turnover of close to 50 million, reaffirms the leadership position of the Catalan pharmaceutical company in the 'natural consumer healthcare' sector.

Uriach continues to advance in the natural consumer healthcare segment. With the aim of reaffirming its leadership position in Europe, it has signed the acquisition of the German family company Pascoe, focused on natural medicine. Founded in 1895, last year it invoiced close to 50 million euros, exporting its products to more than 30 countries.

With a wide range of natural products and vitamin and dietary supplements, Pascoe's main brand is Pascorbin, which leads an exclusive high-dose vitamin C business indicated for treating multiple pathologies. With this portfolio, Uriach continues to gain ground in the natural consumer healthcare segment, made up of over-the-counter medicines, natural products, and food supplements.

The purchase represents a complementary operation to Uriach's previous acquisition in Germany in 2021, when it acquired Sidroga. The commitment to Pascoe allows Uriach to strengthen its position in the region that includes Germany, Switzerland, and Austria with practically no overlap of the product portfolio.

The acquisition, the ninth in the last nine years, is representative of the second phase of Uriach's strategy to accelerate its growth. After consolidating a first phase focused on building a leading European platform in its sector, the pharmaceutical company focused on growing in the markets where it is already present and executing complementary acquisitions to strengthen its position.

The company's growth strategy has led it to have a direct presence in ten countries, which include Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Portugal, Romania and Greece, with the forecast of also operating in France and Belgium, through the purchase of Ineldéa, made last year but still in process.

Precisely the largest acquisition in Uriach's history is that of Ineldéa, with an annual turnover of 100 million. In order to enable the operation, the company's shareholders opened their capital for the first time, to allow the entry of ICG as a minority partner. The acquisition of Ineldéa and that of Pascoe, considered for a full year, would place Uriach at a turnover of more than 500 million annually, a figure that the company considers certifies the success of choosing to focus entirely on the field of natural consumer healthcare.
