All current topics in the port management and logistics sector will be the focus of the program for the fourth edition of the Smart Ports: Piers of the future fair, organized by the Port de Barcelona, which returns to Barcelona this year in person.
Cybersecurity, the potential of marine resources and emerging technologies in the port sector, and funding sources will be some of the main axes of an event that will keep Barcelona's capital status in 2024 very much in mind, with the celebration of the America's Cup sailing race.
The event will take place on November 15, 16, and 17, coinciding with the Smart City Expo World Congress fair, with the participation of the world's most innovative ports: Antwerp-Bruges (Belgium), Busan (South Korea), Hamburg (Germany), Los Angeles (United States), Montreal (Canada), and Rotterdam (Netherlands). Their top representatives will debate the challenges facing the sector, from the disruptions affecting global supply chains to ports' efforts towards decarbonization and the search for alternative fuels.
Together, all the experts participating in the conferences will provide innovative viewpoints on the concept of the smart port developed in previous editions, while contextualizing it within the framework of smart cities, protagonists of the Smart City Expo.
After the success of the last two editions, which had to be held online due to the pandemic, which gathered 6,000 unique viewers and registered more than 20,000 views in 94 countries, the Port de Barcelona has opted this year for a hybrid version of the event (in-person and online). Therefore, it will facilitate that the sessions can be followed via streaming, through the smartports.tv portal.
