The Clos family celebrated this Thursday the 30th edition of the La Terraza del Claris party, one of the hotel's annual events that brings together representatives from Barcelona's business, tourism, cultural, and institutional worlds. The event comes at a time of growth and consolidation for Derby Hotels Collection, which expects to close 2026 with a turnover close to 90 million euros.

The gathering was attended by the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, and other representatives of the City Council and the tourism and business sectors, including the fourth deputy mayor, Jordi Valls; the Councilor for Culture and Creative Industries, Xavier Marcè; the president of Barcelona Global, Josep Lluís Sanfeliu; the president of the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, Josep Santacreu, and the general director of Turisme de Barcelona, Mateu Hernández. The gastronomic entrepreneur Javier de las Muelas also attended.

The party, which has been held since 1994 — with a two-year interruption due to the pandemic — once again transformed the terrace on the seventh floor of the Claris into a meeting point for the city's social and economic fabric.

90 million turnover

Derby Hotels Collection expects to end the 2026 fiscal year with revenues of 90 million euros, in line with the previous year's results. In 2025, the company had a turnover of 90 million, 2.4% more than in 2024.

"The chain's establishments in Barcelona have achieved an average occupancy of 81%"

In an exclusive meeting with the media, the company highlighted that the evolution of occupancy has also been positive during the summer. The chain's establishments in Barcelona have achieved an average occupancy of 81%, three points more than during the same period last year. In Madrid, occupancy has been around 70%.

The United States has consolidated as the group's main source market, with 26% of clients in Barcelona and Madrid. The domestic market occupies the second position and the United Kingdom, the third. In contrast, the company has detected lower demand from France, as well as a weaker evolution of the Chinese and Japanese markets.

6.5 million for the Claris

In parallel with the growth of the business, Derby Hotels continues to invest in the renovation of its assets. The Claris Hotel & Spa, the group's flagship establishment in Barcelona, is immersed in a room renovation project with a budget of around 6.5 million euros. The reform seeks to update the facilities and adapt them to the new demands of the luxury segment, in a strategy that prioritizes the improvement of the establishments that the company already owns.

In London, the group is facing the final phase of the remodeling of its Notting Hill hotel, an action that will allow it to raise its category and strengthen its value proposition. During the works, the establishment operates with reduced capacity.

Currently, Derby Hotels manages nearly 1,500 rooms between Barcelona, Madrid and London. In 2028, the group plans to incorporate a new building of tourist apartments in Plaça Europa in l'Hospitalet de Llobregat.

In addition, the company also maintains the desire to grow outside Spain. The group is looking for opportunities in Portugal and Italy, although it recognizes the difficulty of finding assets that fit its model. According to the general director, Joaquim Clos, the strategy involves finding unique, historic or listed buildings that allow maintaining the identity of Derby Hotels. The company prioritizes this type of assets and, at the same time, the renovation of the establishments that are already part of its portfolio.

A night marked by culture

The 30th edition of La Terraza del Claris has combined the business meeting with a gastronomic proposal by chef Pedro Salillas and a selection of dishes from Os-kuro, the sushi bar and robata located on the ground floor of the hotel. The terrace, a pioneer in opening this type of spaces to Barcelona residents, currently offers gastronomy, cocktails and live music throughout the year.

The celebration has also coincided with the recognition of the career of Jordi Clos, founder and president of Derby Hotels Collection, who has been chosen as honorary academic of the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi. The distinction recognizes his career linked to patronage, collecting and artistic dissemination, especially through the Egyptian Museum of Barcelona. This cultural commitment is also part of the identity of Derby Hotels, whose establishments integrate art collections and have nine museum spaces open to the public.

With three decades of La Terraza del Claris and new projects on the table, the Clos family thus maintains the double commitment that has defined the group: to consolidate its assets in Barcelona and continue seeking growth opportunities in Europe.
