The Cinema Lliure en la Playa cycle begins with Molt lluny

Thursday, July 16.

This Thursday, the new edition of Cinema Lliure a la Platja in Barcelona opens. Sant Sebastià beach (in Barceloneta) will feature the screening of the film Molt lluny, Gerard Oms' debut film, which arrives preceded by great critical acclaim (Award for Best Debut Film in Guadalajara, Biznagas de Plata in Malaga, and a Gaudí nomination for its protagonist).

The story follows Sergio (Mario Casas), a man who, after suffering a panic attack at Utrecht airport, decides not to take the flight back to Barcelona and start from scratch in the Netherlands without money or a home. As an appetizer, the short film La gent normal will be screened. An ideal, summery, and totally free plan.

DroneArt Show: Harry Potter™ at Parc del Fòrum

Friday, July 17.

On Friday night, the sky of Barcelona will take us to Hogwarts castle. Parc del Fòrum hosts the premiere of DroneArt Show: Harry Potter™, a tribute to the most famous wizard of recent years. A total of 1,200 drones will fly synchronously to recreate some of the most mythical scenes of the saga: we will be able to see a Quidditch match or even the final battle against Lord Voldemort. The show will be accompanied by a violinist who will perform pieces from the original soundtrack live.

L'Albada by La Perla 29 at the Teatre Biblioteca de Catalunya

All weekend.

El Alba is the text that Jaume Viñas presented 10 years ago and that has now become a major production under the direction of Oriol Broggi. The play sets us in the preparations for the Barcelona '92 Olympic Games, where Alba, who is finishing her History degree, undertakes an investigation guided by a university professor and another young historian. This path will take her from the Civil War to Olympic euphoria, facing bureaucratic obstacles, closed archives, and witnesses who do not want to remember. A theatrical puzzle that rebels against oblivion, fear, and the generational silence of a country.

Belle & Sebastian at BARTS Festival 2026

Friday, July 17.

The refined and delicate pop of Belle & Sebastian returns to Barcelona to star in one of the most anticipated nights of the BARTS Festival. Stuart Murdoch and his band have been the essence of British indie thanks to their songs that are a celebration of life. On this special occasion, the Scottish band will offer a concert where they will review from top to bottom one of their most acclaimed masterpieces, the album If You're Feeling Sinister, along with a selection of their greatest hits. Melancholy, rhythm, and a lot of nostalgia in Poble Espanyol.

Ricard 111 at Sala Beckett

All weekend.

Eleven years have passed. Ricard's name no longer echoes in the hallways of a high school, but in those of a prison where he is serving a 111-year sentence. The boy who one day saw himself reflected in Shakespeare's monster now tries to live a normality made of routines, books, and silences, but aware that the voices and the blue butterfly pushed him to kill. The show Ricard 111 places the viewer before an enigma: what happens when evil can no longer be attributed to ghosts, but to oneself? Ricard asks us if redemption is truly possible or if there are shadows that inhabit us forever.
