To fully reform the facilities of the emblematic Club Natació Barcelona and, in exchange, open a powerful beach club in the Catalan capital. With this dual objective, Costa Este and the historic sports center have closed an agreement whereby the group dedicated to nightlife and restoration will allocate 15 million euros to the reform and modernization of the club, and to the opening of this new space on Sant Sebastià Beach.
The beach club, which will be located in a CNB building at its closest end to the W Hotel, will open at the end of May and will offer visitors a large swimming pool, a high-end restaurant, an events room, and a rooftop with panoramic views on the seafront. The space, which will open under the name Bastian Beach, will be unique in the Catalan capital with these characteristics and this proximity to the city center.
The new establishment, which aims to surpass the traditional beach club concept and "position itself as an unprecedented place in Barcelona," will have more than 300 employees and more than 2,000 square meters. They will be distributed in the outdoor space; the first two floors of the building; the events room, on the third, and the rooftop. The rest of the space, about 3,000 square meters, will remain as CNB facilities, which will see its facilities modernized to remain a benchmark in this field.
With these views and its location, the new club is called to act as a grandstand for the America's Cup. In this sense, the space wants to position itself as one of the viewpoints for the competition, and joins the list of urban reforms and transformations that the regatta has accelerated in the Catalan capital, such as those carried out in Port Vell and Port Olímpic. In addition, Bastian Beach will begin operating shortly before the nautical bus that will connect Drassanes with Moll de Llevant, a few minutes' walk from the club, also starts operating.
The agreement for the reform comes after the one reached in 2021 between Club Natació Barcelona and Green Track, a British investor with whom it agreed a global remodeling for 12 million euros, which also included gastronomic offerings and new swimming pools, fell through. After the agreement did not materialize, the CNB opted for this alliance with Costa Este, which assumes the investment alone to modernize the sports club and provide the city with this new beach club.
Bastian Beach represents "a project of utmost importance for the group and, at the same time, a fantastic project for the city of Barcelona," according to the CEO of Costa Este, Ramón Bordas. The co-founder of the group has also committed to converting this space into a "reference place that positions the city at the level of other competitors."
Costa Este, which manages 15 establishments in Barcelona, Madrid, and Marbella, assures that it has designed the project with the aim of being respectful and responsible with the environment, in a process in which the new generation of the group, Ramon and Jorge Bordas, have played a fundamental role.
With a turnover of more than 80 million in 2022, the Costa Este group currently employs more than 1,000 workers, to whom the 300 from this new establishment will be added, which aims to position itself as a unique and reference club for the Catalan capital.
