Valentí Puig

Valentí Puig (Mallorca, 1949), writer and press columnist, in Spanish and Catalan. Studied Philosophy and Literature at the University of Barcelona. He has published novels, essays, poems, overall over thirty books. Awarded with several prizes such as Ramon Llull, Josep Pla, Critics Award and Sant Joan, among others. Currently, director of the quarterly journal of ideas and culture, F.

His work has been selected for anthologies “The origins of desire”, “Después de la modernidad” [After Modernity], “Pólwysep w wierszach”, “Paraula encesa” [Burning Word] and “Las dos hermanas” [The Two Sisters].

Author of several essays on international politics, moderantism, Josep Pla, in defence of an imperfect world, return to the Catholic faith, the future of monarchy or the moral effects of the crisis of 2008. Writes for ‘El País’ and, from Monday to Friday, writes the column ‘Banda Plural’ in economiadigital.es. Received the award Antonio Fontán of political journalism in 2012. Founder and director of “Futuro Estratégico”, consulting agency of political analysis and opinion. He has participated in most tv and radio programmes on current politics.

Nowadays he lives in Barcelona. Married to the photographer Montserrat Garriga. Member of the Council of Culture and Arts of Catalonia and the Cervantes Institute Patronage.
