We start the last week of July (and, for many theaters, the last week of the season) with some premieres and with theatrical productions that, after having achieved great success, are entering their final performances. El Maldà premieres a last play for the Grec 2026, the same one with which it will open the 2026/27 season, local venues such as Fènix or Flyhard offer very interesting proposals, and the big stages of Focus face the final stretch of acclaimed productions such as Una bufetada a temps or Primera llei de Newton.
Consulta familiar at El Maldà

El Maldà premieres of Consulta familiar, a comedy that marks the debut in the Barcelona stage of the Mallorcan playwright Marga Arrom. Under the direction of Alba Collado, the play analyses couple relationships and parent-child bonds at different stages of life through the story of Sílvia. The protagonist has spent years trying to understand her mother without much success, as each encounter ends up becoming an uncomfortable examination full of unfavorable comments and the inevitable question about her single status. With Christmas approaching, Sílvia decides to go to therapy to try to manage the situation.
What was supposed to be a space of peace quickly spirals into chaos when the lives of the patient, the psychologist, and the mother herself begin to intertwine in a totally unexpected way. Through fast dialogues, out-of-place confessions, and secrets kept for years, the three women will be forced to confront what they have been avoiding for a long time: speaking clearly. A comedy that explores on everything we say to each other in the family sphere and, especially, on everything we never dare to confess.
Una bufetada a temps at Teatre Goya

After selling out tickets in its first performances, Teatre Goya keeps Marta Buchaca's latest comedy on the stage until August 9: Una bufetada a temps. The show features an outstanding cast led by Ramon Madaula and Montse Guallar, accompanied on stage by Marc Rius, Eudald Font, and Clara de Ramon. The plot focuses on the debate about education, the limits of childhood, and discipline, starting with an everyday incident that quickly escalates to become a family and social upheaval.
The trigger of the story takes place when the grandfather of an eight-year-old boy slaps his grandson in the middle of a tantrum. Following the incident, the school urgently convenes the family and communicates its intention to file a formal complaint against the grandfather. Buchaca portrays the difficulties of educating in today's society with her characteristic sense of humor and a good dose of irony.
King Lear's Jester at Sala Fenix

Sala Fenix hosts the ninth season of King Lear's Jester, the successful theatrical monologue by Felipe Cabezas. In this proposal, the actor and creator recovers the use of masks to creates a visually striking production with a visual and very dynamic scenic language. Under the acting direction of Jordi Pérez (La Vilella), the art direction of Anna Chwaliszewska and the sound design designed by Orestes Gas, the show reinterprets William Shakespeare's quintessential English tragedy from the perspective of one of its most charismatic, sagacious and satirical characters.
The king's jester explains the struggles for absolute power that take place when the old monarch decides to divide his kingdom among his three daughters. However, this version goes beyond the classic and connects directly with the present, with with playful references to contemporary society. The play raises a reflection on the role of royalty in the modern world, the situation of cultural policies and class struggles, demonstrating that the jester's discourse remains as relevant as it was four centuries ago.
Newton's First Law at La Villarroel

At La Villarroel you can still enjoy Newton's First Law, a text by Eu Manzanares and directed by Nelson Valente. The show places the moral dilemmas of education under the spotlight, and deals with concepts such as ethics, opportunities and social inequalities. The story places us in a highly complex secondary school that has just been awarded for its pedagogical work, but which sees its entire discourse falter when, a few days before the final faculty meeting, it is discovered that a student about to graduate has cheated on a final exam.
The tension increases when the boy's mother shows up at the center to demand a certificate that guarantees her secondary school diploma (ESO), a moment that coincides with the visit of a young journalist interested in covering the institute's success. This clash of pressures and interests will force the teaching staff to face uncomfortable questions: is it legitimate to cheat when the original system is deeply unjust, or is it precisely in this way that inequality is perpetuated? A piece that invites the viewer to question the limits of morality.
Fantastic things will happen at Sala FlyHard

Fantastic things will happen is a fresh comedy with touches of magical realism that stems from dissatisfaction, routine, and financial insecurity. The story begins one night in the kitchen of a Barcelona apartment, where Artur spies on the interior courtyard with his amateur detective kit. While his partner, Joana, prepares for a double shift in a nursing home to make ends meet, Artur is obsessed with the mysterious disappearance of his neighbor from Flat 4-3, an adorable lady and fan of Núria Feliu, convinced that her strange nephew is the culprit.
Artur trusts that solving this case will catapult him to fame with his true crime podcast and that, finally, extraordinary things will start happening in his life. Written by Sílvia Navarro and Jordi Casado i Olivas, the piece works both as an uplifting fantasy and a cautionary tale about the need to break with monotony and believe that anything is possible.
