The Barcelona Restauració 2026 Awards distinguish five restaurants that stand out for their culinary quality, sustainability, integration into the neighborhood, and excellence in service

In Barcelona there are around 10,000 bars and restaurants. There are businesses that disappear, others change hands, and new ones find their space. But in all this maelstrom of gastronomic offerings, there is a fact that must be valued, and that is the continuity of independent and family restaurants, especially those with a long history, that know how to face trends and the ups and downs of the sector.

These are restaurants that care for their diners and customers, that strive to maintain quality standards, that keep the fabric of their neighborhoods alive, that extol the worth of their professionals in the kitchen and dining room, that bet on seasonal products, and even understand sustainability as an essential part of their way of cooking.

This diversity is precisely what the Barcelona Restauració 2026 Awards wanted to recognize, celebrating their seventh edition this Monday, November 2, by awarding and distinguishing the restaurants Fishology, Arume, Nectari, Windsor, and La Medusa 73, while Via Veneto received the Honorary Award for a lifetime achievement.

Fishology: creativity and utilization of seafood products

The Award for Gastronomic Quality went to Fishology, a restaurant in the Eixample led by young chefs Riccardo Radicce and Giulia Gabriele. Their proposal, which has held a Michelin star since 2024, stems from a different perspective on seafood products and champions species and techniques that go beyond the usual fish on menus.

The jury particularly highlighted their commitment to fighting food waste, recovering and reinterpreting ancestral preservation techniques, such as curing, smoking, and canning, which coexist with contemporary preparations. A cuisine that values the seasonality of fish and the richness of marine resources.

Arume: gastronomy and commitment to the neighborhood

In the heart of Raval, the restaurant Arume has won the Award for Neighborhood Integration. For over a decade, this Galician cuisine establishment has maintained a close relationship with its surroundings, offering an accessible gastronomic proposal that highlights its daily menu.

The recognition also values its contribution to preserving the gastronomic and literary memory of Manuel Vázquez Montalbán, as well as its participation in the cultural life of the neighborhood, collaborating with theaters and other local agents.

Nectari: sustainability and inclusion at the table

The Sustainability Award has gone to Nectari, the restaurant of chef Jordi Esteve, located in the Eixample. Its commitment to quality products and technically refined cuisine is complemented by a vision of restoration that incorporates inclusion as one of its fundamental values.

One of its most outstanding projects has been the creation of the first menu adapted for people with autism in Catalonia, an initiative that facilitates access to the gastronomic experience and demonstrates that sustainability also implies moving towards more accessible and inclusive restaurant models.

Windsor: the value of the dining room and customer service

The gastronomic experience does not end in the kitchen. This is what the Windsor restaurant, also in the Eixample, claims, distinguished with the Dining Room Service Award.

The establishment has been recognized for its service model based on professionalism, proximity, and attention to small details, as well as coordination between the dining room, kitchen, and cellar teams. A distinction that once again places dining room professionals in their rightful place within the gastronomic experience.

La Medusa 73: the market as a gastronomic stage

The Mercat del Ninot also plays a leading role in this edition thanks to La Medusa 73, winner of the Barcelona Market Restaurant Award.

With a family tradition of four generations linked to fresh fish trade, the establishment has managed to evolve by incorporating a gastronomic proposal that allows customers to buy and taste seasonal fish and seafood, cooked on the spot. Its rice dishes, baked fish, and dishes made with fresh produce represent a way of bringing market cuisine closer to today's public without losing the essence of local trade.

Via Veneto, recognition of an essential trajectory

The honorary award of this seventh edition has gone to Via Veneto, one of the great historical references of Barcelona's restaurant scene. Founded in 1967 and currently managed by the Monje family, the restaurant is about to celebrate six decades of history. Sixty years in which it has never lowered its standards and has remained one of the references of haute cuisine in the city.

With a Michelin star, Via Veneto has built its own identity based on classic Catalan and French cuisine, reinterpreted with a contemporary approach and special attention to product, technique, and personalized service. Its trajectory is part of Barcelona's gastronomic history and a way of understanding restoration in which excellence is worked on both in the kitchen and in the dining room.

Distinctions that reflect a reality

The Barcelona Restauració 2026 Awards reflect the gastronomic diversity of the Catalan capital. From projects that explore new ways of understanding the product to restaurants that keep alive the link with their neighborhoods, markets, and tradition.
