The Sips cocktail bar in Barcelona, located on Muntaner street, managed this Tuesday to secure the first position in the World's 50 Best Bars 2023 ranking. Climbing two positions, the establishment thus replaces another Barcelona venue that last year had managed to lead the world ranking, Paradiso. The bar behind a Pastrami shop in Born has fallen to fourth place.
At a gala held in Singapore, after hosting it last year in the Catalan capital, the winners of this year's edition were announced. Another Barcelona venue that had managed to sneak into this ranking in recent years, Two Schmucks, achieving seventh position in 2022, has disappeared from the list.
After Sips, in second and third position, were Double Chicken Please from New York and Handshake Speakeasy from Mexico, closely followed by Paradiso. This 2023, establishments from 28 cities have been included in the ranking and there have been 11 new entries.
Sips is led by Simone Caporale and Marc Alvarez, two heavyweights in the industry who created the brand at the beginning of 2021. In the same year of its opening, the cocktail bar was ranked number 38 in the World's 50 Best Bars, very soon beginning a dizzying race that has led it to lead the market worldwide in just three years.
