The newly created Oryon Foundation, an entity aimed at recovering, training, and reorienting entrepreneurs who have not prospered with their projects and businesspeople and executives who are inactive—either due to retirement, early retirement, or unemployment—has just launched a scholarship program, with a contribution of 300,000 euros.
The initiative is promoted by the startup advisory firm Oryon Universal—the driving force behind the foundation—with its investee Founderz, the online entrepreneurship school, created by Pau Garcia-Milà.
Oryon Foundation aims to help entrepreneurs emotionally recover and re-enter the labor market when they either do not have sufficient resources to start their professional career or have failed in trying to create a business. On the other hand, it wants to contribute to reinserting executives and businesspeople who are inactive at a professional level, to offer them the opportunity to act as mentors for emerging companies. IESE professor Vicente Font, president of Oryon Foundation, has assured that "in the foundation we firmly believe in the great impact of making solutions available to talent so that they can develop their full potential."
In short, the foundation's program is aimed at "democratizing entrepreneurship" and correcting the fear of entrepreneurial failure. With 2,000 scholarships of 150 euros each, this program Learning to Entrepreneur will benefit young people between 16 and 23 years old who are studying high school, vocational training, or a degree, and professionals over 55 years old who are unemployed, on ERTE, or in early retirement.
During their participation, the scholarship students will receive one year of training covering everything from idea generation, business model validation, to attracting the first customers.
The presentation of the initiative took place this Tuesday at the headquarters of DFactory Barcelona, the 17,000 square meter space dedicated to innovation and led by the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona. The firm Oryon Universal and the Consorci have a collaboration agreement by which they will promote the use of DFactory to organize investment and talent attraction activities and will host startups under the umbrella of the advisory firm led by Victor Giné.
The head of Oryon Universal believes that having a space like DFactory will allow them to invest in between 50 and 100 new projects, establishing a strategy of "sustained growth."
This platform, created in 2018, invests through the Oryon Ventures fund, with a capacity of 25 million euros. Since its creation, and through its high-performance entrepreneurship accelerator located in 22@, it has invested in more than 20 startups, among which Founderz, DoGood People, Yumminn, and Onalabs stand out.
