Four months after its opening, the historic Miró-Picasso exhibition closes its doors this Sunday, and expects to do so with almost 485,000 visitors. Specifically, the unrepeatable exhibition that delves into the relationship between both artists has so far recorded 461,620 visitors, to which it expects to add 24,000 during its last weekend.

The exceptional exhibition has explored the meeting points between Joan Miró and Pablo Picasso through an exhibition jointly organized and produced by the Fundació Joan Miró and the Museu Picasso de Barcelona. The friendship and admiration between both artists has been interpreted from more than 300 works and documents, which have included the exchange of pieces between both institutions and international loans.

Through these precious works and documents, the exhibition offers a "joint interpretation of the two artists that allows new perspectives on their work, in an exercise that becomes magical for the public," highlighted the Minister of Culture, Ernest Urtasun, during a visit to the exhibition.

20% of those who have come to learn about this relationship between Miró and Picasso have done so from Barcelona or its surroundings
Curated by Teresa Montaner and Sònia Villegas from the Fundació Joan Miró, and by Margarida Cortadella and Elena Llorens from the Museu Picasso Barcelona, the exhibition has not only been an attraction for the international public, but has also attracted numerous local visitors.

And it is that 20% of those who have come to learn about this relationship between Miró and Picasso have done so from Barcelona or its immediate surroundings, as detailed by Emmanuel Guigon, director of the Picasso Museum. Partly thanks to this joint exhibition, the institution he directs has recovered visitor numbers from before the pandemic.

The exhibition has been the culmination of the commemoration of the 50th anniversary of Picasso's death, which coincides with the 40th anniversary of Miró's. And it has been a long-prepared exhibition: "Both museums have worked for years to achieve this historic exhibition," claimed the director of the Fundació Joan Miró, Marko Daniel, highlighting the unique and unrepeatable nature of this extraordinary exhibition.
