Meliá launches the INNSiDE brand in Barcelona with the reopening of the Apolo hotel

The hotel chain invests eight million euros in renovating the property located in Paral·lel, with more than 300 rooms

The Meliá group reinforces its commitment to Barcelona. After the inauguration of the five-star ME by Meliá on Casp street and the recent announcement of reopening the Rey Juan Carlos hotel, the hotel chain has just launched its INNSiDE brand in Barcelona with the reopening of the former Apolo hotel, now transformed into INNSiDE Barcelona Apolo.

The four-star establishment has renovated its 314 rooms to adapt to this Meliá brand, "an accessible-price brand designed for a community of independent travelers." The firm responsible for the works was Álvaro Sans Arquitectura Hotelera.

The family group from the Balearic Islands has invested about eight million euros to give the property "a modern, spontaneous, and relaxed atmosphere," including yoga mats, Bluetooth speakers, wireless chargers, and ecological amenities in the rooms. The renovation has incorporated a gym and common areas, where guests can work, interact with other clients, or buy a souvenir of local crafts and art.

The hotel's dining offer has also been updated to the INNSiDE line, with a new bar proposal and grab & go service at the reception, with ready-to-eat dishes and open 24 hours. Likewise, La Terraza restaurant has created an open area where guests can have breakfast or dinner outdoors.

Very close to the port, with special interest for cruise passengers arriving or departing from the city, the establishment also wants to attract business travelers, considering its proximity to Fira Montjuïc. For this reason, the works have allowed the incorporation of up to 1,200 square meters of flexible spaces for meetings and events, in addition to adding a coworking space.

Meliá already managed this establishment on Paral·lel in its previous stage. Owned by Värde Partners, it bought it for 96 million euros in mid-2021 after exercising the right of first refusal. With the support of the Schroders Capital fund, the hotel group prevailed over the Canadian fund Brookfield.

The new INNSiDE Barcelona Apolo will join Meliá's portfolio in Barcelona, where it also operates the Barcelona Sky skyscraper hotel, the Meliá Sarrià, the Condal Mar hotel, and the ME by Meliá. In the future, the Miranda de Pedralbes, until now Hotel Rey Juan Carlos, will be incorporated and will become part of the Gran Meliá collection, which includes the group's highest category hotels.
