Living the summer in Barcelona with family is now easier than ever thanks to the complete agenda of activities the city offers this August. Museums, festivals, and streets host a very varied program that allows combating the heat in air-conditioned spaces, participating in creative workshops, or enjoying night shows, concerts, and proposals for all ages.
Enjoying the Gràcia Festival 2026 with family
One of the family plans par excellence in August in Barcelona is, without a doubt, going to Gràcia and enjoying its main festival. This year, from August 15 to 21, the Gràcia Festivals return, an event that transforms the neighborhood's streets into an open-air museum. Residents work for months to decorate dozens of streets and squares with very original themes and using, mainly, recycled materials.
Beyond the decoration, the Festa Major offers a program designed for the family audience during the day. It includes plastic workshops, water games to combat the heat, children's puppet shows and street theater, in addition to the traditional "casteller" days, giant parades, and children's "correfocs". Dancing rock at the solidarity and family concert at Poble Espanyol
On Sunday, August 30 at 8:00 p.m., the main square of Poble Espanyol hosts a new event of the musical and solidarity campaign organized by AFANOC (Association of Relatives and Friends of Children with Cancer of Catalonia). This is RockpelsXuklis, a solidarity concert that, to the rhythm of rock music, gives visibility to the current situation of youth cancer.
The night will feature two concerts: Barrena, a tribute band born in Barcelona in 2008 that pays homage to the repertoire of Barricada, and Los Suevos, a formation created in 2025 to keep alive the music of Los Suaves. The proceeds from ticket sales will go to finance the services, support projects, and maintenance of La Casa dels Xuklis, a space that works to improve the quality of life of children and young people with cancer and their families.
Participating in family workshops and play spaces at the CCCB
Under the title Small, medium, and large, the Centre de Cultura Contemporània de Barcelona (CCCB) provides, during the summer months, an air-conditioned, quiet, and free space for children aged 0 to 10 and their families. In addition to the free play area, the CCCB organizes weekly thematic art and architecture workshops such as A park up high (from August 4 to 9), a model building workshop where children conceive, design, and erect their own structures using craft materials.
The Kiosk of maps made of memory, from August 11 to 16, is an activity where children can draw from memory their favorite corners of Barcelona and then learn different map folding techniques and exchange them with other families. Exquisite tiles, from August 18 to 23, is a proposal that invites children to design their own tile (the famous Barcelona tile) and participate in tiling a section of the space's floor.
The program concludes from August 25 to 30 with The ballet of the sidewalks, a drawing workshop that aims to reflect the daily life of a single street in the morning and in the evening.

The cultural center CaixaForum also offers an intense agenda this August that is designed to bring art, science, and music closer to the little ones. Among the workshops, Artefacto: the secret of things (until August 27) stands out, an experimentation space for manipulating and giving new uses to everyday objects. Also scheduled is The cardboard orchestra (from July 29 to September 2), a workshop created by the artist Mònica Rikic that combines basic electronics, cardboard, and play to build a collective musical instrument.
CaixaForum also features the series Little Cinephiles, which screens films designed for family audiences. For example, from August 4 to 25, you can see Billy, the cowboy hamster, a film about the adventures of a small hamster who wants to learn the value of mutual help. Barracuda's Treasure (from August 11 to September 1) is a pirate adventure film that champions reading as the best of treasures.
Enjoy the Laser Show at Tibidabo
This August, the Tibidabo Amusement Park brings back one of its most acclaimed night shows: the Laser Show. Every opening evening at 9:30 PM, the Plaça dels Somnis will transform into a large open-air dance floor. This year's proposal includes new soundtracks, an increase in the number of state-of-the-art laser projectors, and a choreography of lights, colors, and smoke that will last 20 minutes.
The visit to the park during August is complemented by other summer activities such as the new show La volta al món ballant (Around the World Dancing) by the Tibidabo Mascots, the Platja Tibidabo area (equipped with sandpits and a sun lounger area), and the offering of Masia Tibidabo, the gastronomic project led by chef Rafa Zafra.
Participate in the Street Escape at Casa Batlló
Casa Batlló offers an Street Escape that transforms Passeig de Gràcia into an interactive play space. This activity is designed for children aged 6-8 and up (accompanied by adults) and the objective of the scavenger hunt is to help the Batlló family find a lost ring.
Through a map and different tools, participants must decipher enigmas, clues, and codes hidden on the facades and architectural details of the Eixample. It is a cultural and outdoor option to discover the secrets of Catalan Modernism while playing. The activity is available every day between 9:45 AM and 6:45 PM and can be booked on the official Casa Batlló website.
Visit the Star Wars exhibition at Casa Cupra
This summer, Casa Cupra hosts Rebels Beyond the Galaxy, one of the most important private collections dedicated to the Star Wars universe in Europe. Curated by expert and collector Alfredo Calles, the exhibition brings together more than 150 original and collectible pieces that review the entire film saga created by George Lucas since 1977.
The tour includes life-size figures of the most iconic characters, highly detailed busts, dioramas recreating scenes from the films, scale models of ships, objects used during official filming, and art prints signed by the actors. Access is completely free and does not require prior reservation.
Surround yourself with balloons at the Balloon Story Barcelona exhibition
After gathering more than 800,000 visitors in cities like New York, the immersive exhibition Balloon Story is set up at Espai Inmersa del Poblenou (Carrer Llull 119). This experience proposes a journey of about 70 minutes through different thematic rooms built with more than 600,000 totally biodegradable colorful balloons.
The space combines giant structures and sculptures, interactive photographic backgrounds, tactile play areas, and installations designed to stimulate the imagination of the little ones and offer a visual experience to adults.
