"To share the good results of the company with our community, both with our workers and with our clients." This is the commitment by which Ametller Origen is governed, according to its CEO and co-founder, Josep Ametller, and for which the company has promoted measures such as the increase in the salary remuneration of its employees by an average of 20% since 2021.
The Catalan food chain, which has 3,700 workers, has also improved remuneration this year, especially focused on the staff of its nearly 140 stores, with the implementation of measures that allow for an 11% annual increase.
The salary increase has been agreed through joint work between the Works Council, affiliated with UGT, and the company's management, "applying the salary increase agreed in the current collective bargaining agreement, as well as new agreed supplements and variables," according to the president of the Works Council, Miquel Fernández.
Regarding work-life balance, 80% of the staff has two weekly days off. In addition, work is underway to implement a new measure whereby each employee can have a quality weekend every six weeks, according to Fernández. The president of the Works Council has highlighted that mechanisms are being sought to promote various paid leaves.
On the other hand, the group began in February to offer free private medical assistance to all its staff with more than six months of seniority. The coverage, which includes dental assistance, provides that the partner and children under 25 years of age can access the same benefits with special conditions.
The group, which considers workers to be the engine of its growth, is committed to staff stability. In this regard, 98% of its employees have an indefinite contract and, during 2023, 76% of vacancies were filled by company personnel, thus promoting internal promotion. In addition, it has promoted a Dual Vocational Training program with twelve supervised or formerly supervised young people together with Eduvic and Mercabarna.
The group also promotes technical and competency training, through specific plans according to each trade within the company, which has cultivated fields and fruit trees, a central workshop, and close to these 140 stores. In 2023, more than 29,000 hours of training were carried out. This commitment involved an investment of about 600,000 euros, in a strategy framed within a "reason for being," according to Josep Ametller: "To share value with our community."
