Yaba is a startup made in Barcelona that was born in March of this year at the hands of entrepreneurs Rubén Ferreiro, David Baratech, Alex Fresneda, Patxi Archanco, and Sergi de Pablos. Its mission is to discover interesting companies that sell on Amazon, also known as sellers, to buy them and make them grow, both on Jeff Bezos' marketplace and on other channels, thus maximizing their sales. Baratech and De Pablos are also co-founders of Ulabox.

In these first six months of life, the Catalan company has closed the acquisition of six companies that, together, total a turnover of six million euros. Of these six companies, two are Spanish from the beauty and baby care world, three are Lithuanian from the pet, home, and accessories sector, and one is Italian specializing in furniture. Yaba has the support of investors Sabadell Venture Capital, Bonsai Venture Capital, JME Ventures, Inveready, and Viko.

Looking four years ahead, Yaba's founders want to have bought more than 100 entities. Currently, they are about to close a purchase agreement for four more brands, which is expected to be formalized in early November. Two of the companies are Spanish, one is Italian, and the other originates from Eastern Europe. With these acquisitions, Yaba would increase its turnover to approximately 20 million euros, while expanding its spectrum of sectors towards sports, as one of the brands is dedicated to marketing accessories for bicycles and motorcycles.

The startup's main markets are Spain, Italy, France, and Eastern Europe, territories in which it claims to have little competition. Of the mentioned territories, Yaba has not yet bought any French company, a subject it marks as pending for the near future. Before the end of 2021, the startup expects to buy two or three more companies, to end the year with a total of 12 or 13 in ownership.

"Many companies have contacted us seeing how Yaba can offer a better future for their brands. This confirms to us that boosting a company like ours in Southern Europe was necessary," explains Alex Fresneda, current co-CEO of the startup. The firm currently has about twenty employees in Barcelona, Madrid, and Mexico City.
