New opportunity for the mega-venue that housed the Bellavista del Jardín del Norte restaurant at Enric Granados street number 86. The international restaurant group Salvaje, owned by a group originating from Panama, has just landed in Barcelona with a thousand-square-meter restaurant ---to which another thousand square meters of the interior terrace are added--- bringing a new concept of Japanese gastronomy to the city.
The monumental establishment, which opened its doors this second half of May, stands out for its exuberant decoration and for offering diners a complete experience, as Salvaje is not just food, but also a show, with performances by the company La Troop, entertainment, and a lot of music.
Salvaje arrives in Barcelona after having opened on Velázquez street in Madrid just as the pandemic began. The group also has restaurants in Miami, Bogotá, and Panama and, soon, assures that it will inaugurate new venues in Ibiza, Marbella, Cartagena de Indias, and a second establishment in Madrid located within the real estate complex that houses the new Four Seasons Hotel in Canalejas.
The visible face of Salvaje and also co-founder of the group is the Venezuelan chef Fermín Azkue, who has created a gastronomic concept based on the fusion of Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine. According to Azkue, Salvaje "is a must-visit restaurant for both tourists and locals" where "the quality of the food and offering a unique experience to customers" is prioritized.
Sushi, nigiris, sashimi, temakis, woks, ramen, salads, tempura, and fish and meat cooked with the robata technique --- a kind of Japanese barbecue grill --- are some of the dishes that can be found on Salvaje's extensive menu. The venue also makes a strong commitment to unique cocktails, created by Borja Goikoetxea.
The former Bellavista restaurant, opened by Leo Messi's family in alliance with the Iglesias group, closed its doors at the end of 2018 after two years of operation due to heavy accumulated losses. It was transformed into a venue for events, but the pandemic definitively condemned it. Now it has been completely renovated with a decoration that leaves no one indifferent. Things have gone well for Salvaje in Madrid, and now it wants its formula to also succeed in Barcelona.
