Although we have said farewell to La Mercè, Barcelona never slows down! This weekend, the first in October, the diary fills up once again with a diverse array of proposals: from enjoying live jazz and taking part in a charity run against cancer, to digging for musical gems at a record fair, tucking into bravas, spending a day of family music and fun, or packing out the city's theatres. Clear your schedule, because you won't be staying at home this weekend!

JazzTast

All weekend

The Centre Cívic El Carmel presents a new edition of JazzTast, a cultural and culinary initiative bringing rhythm and flavour to the district of Horta-Guinardó from 28 September to 4 October 2026. Throughout the week, local bars and community facilities join forces to offer a combination of a tapa, a drink, and a live jazz performance for €3.

Alongside the food trail, the programme features fringe activities, workshops, and musical surprises across partner venues. The project aims to energise local trade and bring jazz to a broad audience in an accessible, informal format.

Lo nunca visto by Berto Romero at the Coliseum

All weekend

Teatre Coliseum hosts Lo nunca visto, the new comedy show from Berto Romero. The popular comedian returns to the stage with an unprecedented production showcasing his most candid side. Across a 90-minute stand-up set, Romero reflects on the passage of time and adulthood with his trademark acerbic, irreverent wit.

The staging of this new venture extends far beyond the spoken word, incorporating special effects, musical numbers, magic tricks, and surprises designed for audience participation.

Bravas Fest at Poble Espanyol

All weekend

Poble Espanyol celebrates the 5th edition of the Mahou Bravas Fest Barcelona, the culinary gathering dedicated to one of the city's most iconic small plates. More than a dozen benchmark establishments (including Senyor Vermut, Montesquiu, Bar Córdoba, Ocaña, La Esquinica, Món Việt, and Xinvic) will serve up their patatas bravas recipes and signature tapas to compete for awards from the expert jury and the public vote.

The food offering is paired with beer and an activity programme featuring showcookings, culinary workshops, and live musical performances. Standout concerts include sets by Hotel Cochambre, DJ Amable, and the Big Band Jam. Admission is free for residents in Catalonia, though tickets must be downloaded in advance.

Toca Festa at L’Auditori

Saturday 3 October 2026

L'Auditori de Barcelona hosts Toca Festa on Saturday 3 October 2026, an initiative organised by its Educational Service to kick off the 2026–2027 family season. Throughout the day, the venue will throw open its indoor and outdoor spaces to offer a comprehensive programme of concerts, educational workshops, and sound installations designed especially for children aged six and up alongside their families.

Organised in partnership with the Museu de la Música and ESMUC, the project seeks to introduce sonic art to new audiences. Visitors of all ages will have the chance to play instruments, experiment with sound, and engage first-hand with varied musical proposals in a festive, educational atmosphere.

El cadell at the TNC

All weekend

The Teatre Nacional de Catalunya presents El cadell, the new play by Josep Maria Miró. The playwright, honoured with the National Dramatic Literature Award, returns to the Barcelona institution following triumphs like Fum and Temps salvatge with a work addressing power dynamics, hereditary succession, and the construction of family identity.

The drama unfolds in a traditional Catalan masia, where the burden of perpetuating the family name rests upon the heir, known as the Cadell. Yet the narrative places the spotlight on the household's women, as it is they who sustain daily life and preserve the family's memory.

Viu Montjuïc

Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 October 2026

The Parc de Montjuïc celebrates a new edition of Viu Montjuïc this weekend, a major popular festival offering over a hundred entirely free cultural activities. The initiative unites more than forty institutions across the mountain – with the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya serving as a central hub – to bring the area's natural and artistic heritage to the wider public.

The schedule features guided tours and dramatised walks through the gardens, open-doors access to exhibitions, theatre, dance, live concerts, and workshops for all ages. The event also seeks to champion the park as a vibrant, open environment integrated into Barcelona's cultural fabric.

Friday 2 October 2026

The Palau Sant Jordi hosts Vetusta Morla in concert as part of their Gira de vuelta. Canciones de ida. Following a two-year hiatus, the Madrid outfit returns to the stage to reconnect with their Barcelona audience.

The show will revisit the greatest hits of their career alongside their latest material. The band's return to the Catalan capital promises to pack the Montjuïc arena to celebrate the legacy of an undisputed benchmark of Spanish indie-rock.

Corre contra el càncer

Sunday 4 October 2026

The Parc de l'Aqüeducte in Ciutat Meridiana will serve as the starting point on Sunday 4 October 2026 for the charity run Corre contra el càncer. Organised by the Associació ACSOSA Zona Nord de Barcelona, the sporting event features a 10 km route running through the neighbourhoods of Ciutat Meridiana, Torre Baró, and Vallbona.

The race is inclusive and open to all abilities, allowing participants to complete the course either running or walking. All entry fee proceeds will go directly to cancer research projects led by the Vall d'Hebron Institut d'Oncologia (VHIO).

Aida at the Gran Teatre del Liceu

All weekend

The Gran Teatre del Liceu presents the staging of Aida directed by artist and filmmaker Shirin Neshat. Arriving from the Salzburg Festival, this production departs from the classical monumentality of Giuseppe Verdi's opera to offer a poetic, heavily symbolic vision exploring contemporary themes of exile, identity, and authoritarian repression.

The opera charts the clandestine love story between Aida, an enslaved Ethiopian princess, and Radamès, an Egyptian captain, set against a backdrop where the laws of church and state collide. The production thus becomes a reflection on the friction between sacred duty and political statecraft.

Barcelona International Record Fair at Estació del Nord

All weekend

The Barcelona Nord Bus Station hosts the 41st edition of the Barcelona International Record Fair, one of Europe's premier gatherings for music collectors. The event will bring together up to 170 stands from across the globe, serving as a hub for music enthusiasts and devotees of physical formats.

Visitors will be able to browse thousands of items ranging from vintage vinyl and out-of-print CDs to slipmats, books, T-shirts, and all kinds of official merchandise. The fair provides an opportunity to track down rarities, limited editions, and timeless classics across every musical genre.

Tendrament at Teatre Akadèmia

All weekend

Teatre Akadèmia programmes Tendrament, a stage work written, directed, and performed by Judit Colomer and Pau Vinyals. The production reflects on the life expectations of today's generation, challenging the notion that security can only be achieved through career, housing, romantic partnership, or parenthood.

From a bare stage, the two actors speak directly to the audience, turning theatregoers into confidants of their uncertainties, longings, and fears. The play uses intimate proximity to explore the fissures of love and question whether relationships often become a tool of conformity within the economic system.

Soundit at La Monumental

Saturday 3 October 2026

Soundit is Barcelona's electronic music fixture, launching its 9th season this weekend at La Monumental. From 16:00 to 22:00, the venue will host an open-air session headlined by Detroit Love, the acclaimed project created by techno pioneer Carl Craig.

The afternoon's highlight will be a special back-to-back set featuring Carl Craig, Moodymann, and Mike Banks, blending techno, house, jazz, soul, and funk sounds. The bill for this autumn opening is completed with performances by DJs Laia and Klara Missyle.
