The Balañà Group kicks off the 2026-2027 season with international-level musical theater, classical ballet, comedy shows in all their formats, live podcasts, and even intimate and acoustic concerts. Yesterday, the Cúpula del Coliseum became a true celebration where artists, technical team, programmers, administrators, and press gathered to celebrate the start of a season that promises to be unforgettable.
The musicals of the season
The Tívoli becomes the main showcase for great musical productions and, from September 26 to December 20, it hosts one of the most anticipated premieres: Mamma Mia! The Musical. After triumphing in Madrid before more than 800,000 spectators, the ATG Entertainment production arrives in Barcelona endorsed by the Award for Best Choreography at the Premios Teatro Musical. The show pays homage to ABBA's greatest hits (such as Dancing Queen, Gimme Gimme Gimme, or The Winner Takes It All) and proposes a theatrical party set on a Greek island. More than 65 million people worldwide have already enjoyed this musical and, now, in our country, we once again have the opportunity to see it live.
During the Christmas season, the Teatre Coliseum will transform into a world of magic and classical dance. The Kyiv Ballet returns to our city to present its version of The Nutcracker, a show that features music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and original choreography by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov. The company will recount the story of Clara, her soldier prince, the Mouse King, and the Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
In early 2027, another of the season's most anticipated musicals will premiere. From February 10 to March 14, the Coliseum will once again open the doors of the Kit Kat Klub with Cabaret. The show comes directly from Berlin and will feature music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb to offer an unfiltered version where the legendary Willkommen will resonate strongly.
In spring, the Teatre Tívoli will host Forever, a tribute to the legacy and music of Michael Jackson. We are facing a super-production that features live musicians and dancers and boasts 16 years of trajectory, more than 1 million spectators in 15 countries, and the endorsement of the Jackson family.
Comedy occupies a large part of the season's billboard
Comedy and humor continue to be one of the big bets that Grup Balañà makes for the Barcelona billboard. One of the great proposals comes from Pablo Remón who, on December 29, will premiere Verborrea with Javier Cámara, Israel Elejalde, Marta Nieto, and Emilio Tomé. The proposal tells us the story of the members of an 80s punk band. It is a unique opportunity to enjoy live the talent of Cámara, an actor who has not been on stage in our city for 22 years.
Remón explains that it is a tragicomedy full of humor, poetry, and dirt and, furthermore, adds that «Through different monologues and crossed voices, as if it were a musical documentary, we trace the lives of two brothers and the punk group they formed, Verborrea».
On the other hand, the Coliseum re-programs El Tenoriu, the most mischievous version of José Zorrilla's classic, which can be seen again from October 21 to November 8. Directed by Carles Sans and adapted by Israel Solà, the proposal stars Sílvia Abril, Anna Bertran, and Roger Julià, adding this year David Olivares in the role of Tenoriu and the incorporation of Artur Busquets.
Another great name in the world of theater and acting is Miki Esparbé, who stars in Les Coses Excepcionals. Under the direction of Pau Roca, Esparbé embodies this comedy that reminds us of everything that makes life worthwhile. From November 4 to December 6, we will be able to relive the story of a six-year-old boy who begins to make a list of extraordinary things to cheer up his hospitalized mother.
From December 10 to January 10, Eureka will premiere, a comedy that questions progressive idealism and social consensus. Set in a school where decisions can only be made unanimously, an outbreak of mumps will unleash chaos and discord among the five members of the School Council.
Finally, from February 12 to March 14, the Borràs will host the premiere of La síndrome Natalia, the new comedy co-written by Blanca Bardagil and Jordi Casanovas. With a luxury cast made up of Àngels Gonyalons, Diana Gómez, Queco Novell, Ricard Farré, and Edu Gibert, the play tells the story of the director of a magazine who is diagnosed with a disease so strange that it bears her name.
Stand-up comedy and live podcasts
Within the humorous monologues in the purest stand-up comedy style, we find Berto Romero and his show Lo nunca visto. From October 1 to 18, the comedian bids farewell to the Barcelona audience through 90 minutes where magic, music, special effects, and the most absurd humor go hand in hand.
Eva Soriano is also part of this year's program with Disfrutona, scheduled for October 23 and 24. We are facing an introspective and shameless monologue where the comedian tells us all the absurd thoughts that cross our minds in front of the mirror. Another of the "heavyweights" of current comedy is Galder Varas, a comedian who will present Esto no es una prueba from October 28 to November 1. This show mixes script and improvisation where the audience becomes an accomplice of the show.
José Corbacho and David Fernández return with David y Jose no somos Estopa from October 21 to 25. Two very well-known faces of Catalan humor come together on stage to review the funniest anecdotes of their career. And, finally, another of the most anticipated comedy shows is the return of Ilustres Ignorantes, which will take place from November 20 to 22. Javier Coronas and Pepe Colubi will add Raúl Cimas as a regular guest, along with surprises and special guests at each performance.
At the Coliseum, we will also be able to be part of an episode of La Ruina, the successful podcast by Ignasi Taltavull and Tomàs Fuentes. From October 8 to 18, the miseries and funniest anecdotes of the audience and their guests will turn the theater stage into a group therapy full of laughter.
This season's music at Balañà theaters
Music will also be part of the new Balañà season. Specifically, the Teatre Coliseum stage will host some large-format live concerts by very well-known artists. For example, on November 18, Revólver will present LA 03010 Tour. Carlos Goñi arrives with a project that takes its name from the postal code of the Alicante neighborhood where he grew up and which the artist defines as one of the most complex and personal works of his career.
Within Guitar BCN 2027, the Coliseum will host Bebe's concert as part of the Pafuera telarañas tour. The Extremaduran artist will present a format adapted to theaters to celebrate and fully reinterpret her debut album. Songs such as Malo, Ella, Con mis manos, or Siempre me quedará will be played live again.
Great international productions, live music and new dramaturgies are part of the start of the season for Grup Balañá. Yesterday we toasted and celebrated together that the new season will fill us with laughter, dreams and good theater.
