Volkswagen Group España Distribución will move, at the beginning of 2023, its headquarters in Spain from the Mas Blau industrial park in El Prat de Llobregat to offices in the Parc Logístic de la Zona Franca in Barcelona.
The company has leased 5,300 square meters, distributed over three floors, to adapt the work environments of its more than 400 employees to sustainability and efficiency criteria. The offices, under a rental agreement, are located in a building ---designed by the recently deceased architect Ricardo Bofill--- that Merlin Properties owns in the Parc Logístic de la Zona Franca.
The property has been vacated in recent months due to the departure of the companies Cellnex ---which has moved to Torre Llevant in the new BCN Fira District-- and Abertis ---which has completed its relocation to Avinguda Pedralbes, also in Barcelona---.
Volkswagen Group España Distribución, formerly Volkswagen Audi-España (Vaesa), is the distributor of the Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda, and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles brands and had its central offices in the Mas Blau industrial park since 1993.
The new headquarters, which Merlin Properties will subject to rehabilitation in the coming months to adapt it to the company's needs, with a design conceived for the hybrid model (in-person and teleworking), will have collaborative spaces to develop work in project teams. It will also have 180 parking spaces, with a high number of charging points for electrified vehicles.
The building will have LEED certification, and, in addition, Volkswagen Group will apply for WELL certification, which measures the impact of buildings on people's health and well-being. "We want to drive the cultural transformation we have been working on in recent years from the design of the new offices," said Ricardo Bacchini, Director of Human Resources and Organization at Volkswagen Group España Distribución.
The company values the new location for "its excellent connection, both for road traffic and public transport, with the city center and the airport." The relocation was advised by the real estate company Savills Aguirre Newman, which also carried out the technical consulting of the building and the workplace project for its implementation.
