Loss of sample traceability, increased failures, and bottlenecks in their reception and registration were some of the impediments that complicated the reliability of the corresponding inspection, verification, testing, and certification services. An important aspect considering that 80% of an analytical result depends on the guarantees in sample collection. Given that Bosch attributed these obstacles to the almost non-existent digitalization of this activity, essential for detecting infections, contaminations, bacterial processes, possible pandemics like COVID..., she conceived what is now TSS. The Sampling Solutions avoids all these blunders and has emerged as a global manager of outsourcing services for sample collection and measurements ---and other associated services such as cleaning and disinfection audits or detection of critical control points (HACCP) in places like hospital or restaurant kitchens---.It acts between the company or entity that needs to validate a process and the laboratory responsible for carrying out the analysis.It has a network of more than 250 experts in sample collection in Spain, which allows it to reduce its service response times from five days to 72 hours and provides total real-time digital traceability. Among its main clients in the environmental sector are Gamaser, Laboratorio Tecnológico de Levante, Grupo Tentamus, and Suez-Aquona.

Following a recentfunding round in which it raised 700,000 euros, TSS will incorporate Artificial Intelligence into its platformand will improve its operations. Private investors such as GVC Gaesco, Pinama Inversores, Labiana Farmacéutica, and the platform ofequity crowfundingSociosInversores.com. In 2021,had already raised 260,000 euros in the capital market. Eli Bosch anticipates that the business can reach 350,000 euros in turnover this year. The projected growth will also come from expanding its services to new areas. Focused until now on the environmental, agri-food, hospital, and veterinary sectors, the company will add the industrial sector, wellness-health and Big Data.To achieve expansion, the company rented a 700-square-meter industrial warehouse in Tarragona, where it has located its offices and a logistics center.

In search of new sampling tools

Eli Bosch and her team have begun research with a new technology for the detection and quantification of pathogens, biofilm, on surfaces that for now is usedfor validation focused on verifying cleaning and disinfection in food processing plants and slaughterhouses. A project it is developing together with the fourth largest food producer in the world, the Dutch multinational Trouw Nutrition, and Biosfer Teslab, a biotechnology company from Reus, created asspin-offof the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) and the Pere Virgili Health Research Institute. The new sampling technique will improve current processes. "Instead of taking the sample with typical swabs or contact plates, with this new technology we will take the sample through a gun and at the same time provide the result so that the quality managers of the food company can act quickly before continuing with food processing," explains Eli Bosch, adding that the system will also "allow reaching more inaccessible places and penetrating surfaces much better." In terms of food safety, TSS works for entities and companies such as AINIA, CNTA, Grupo Tentamus, AQG, Ambical or Anabiol, among others.
