New opening for the Roca brothers. The family of chefs opens Vii in Girona's Plaça del Vi, a new project consisting of a wine bar, tapas, and traditional stews from Gerundense cuisine, such as "platillos." The first will be served this Friday.
The new establishment is located where Plaça del Vi 7 used to be, a place where the brothers already owned a part of the business, according to ACN. Now, they have decided to refocus the project by betting on tapas and "platillos," where wine, bread, and oil will be the main protagonists.
Specifically, the gastronomic offer is based on simple cuisine inspired by the Roca bar of the seventies and traditional Catalan cuisine. Therefore, there will be tapas of cap i pota, Can Roca cannelloni, Roman-style calamari, or kidneys in Sherry. There will also be confits and escabeches such as, for example, pickled anchovies, and other traditional stews from the area like "platillos." All of them, accompanied by natural wines.
Vii is under the responsibility of Audrey Doré, the head sommelier of El Celler de Can Roca. David Freijomil, who has been there since the origins of the previous establishment, remains in charge of the kitchen. The bar will open every day from one in the afternoon until eleven at night.
The Roca brothers' offer consists of the renowned El Celler de Can Roca, inaugurated in 1986 as a local adjacent to Can Roca, the bar-restaurant of the Roca brothers' parents. The portfolio is completed with Mas Marroch, in Vilablareix, the Normal restaurant and the Hotel Boutique Casa Cacao, both in Girona, and the recent Esperit Roca, in Sant Julià de Ramis. Their commitment to the world of ice cream also stands out, with Rocambolesc, inaugurated in 2012 in Girona, which arrived at Barcelona's Rambla in 2015. Since last year, they have ventured into the world of bikinis with the Bikineria Rocambolesc in Girona.
