The Port of Barcelona's board of directors approved this Wednesday the tender for the maritime bus service that will connect the Drassanes and Llevant docks. The stop at Moll de Drassanes will be near Colom, while the one at Llevant will be located in the old Port of Barcelona sheds, which are being rehabilitated to become an innovation hub. At this maritime station, there will be a catering service.

The contract for the provision of this new service will have a duration of 15 years from the award. It is expected that the nautical bus will start operating, at the latest, in July of next year.

The future maritime bus will have a minimum capacity of 50 passengers. The boats it will use must be zero-emission, meaning they must be equipped with a propulsion system with solar panels or hydrogen and a connection to the electrical grid. Likewise, they must have a maximum length of 15 meters and a maximum beam of 6 meters.

The Board of Directors also agreed this Wednesday to award the remodeling of the Contradique Norte dock to the UTE formed by Dragados, ACSA, and Ciomar for 20.7 million euros. This dock will be equipped with a new ro-ro platform to improve its operational capacity and adapt it to the needs of the most modern ferries. During the 18 months that the works will last, a provisional ro-ro platform will be installed at Moll Costa to maintain current operations.
