The multinational time registration and management company Protime has chosen Barcelona to open its digital hub. The company, a subsidiary of SD Worx, has landed in the Catalan capital after acquiring the company SoftMachine a year ago.

The acquisition of the Barcelona-based company is part of Protime's strategy to position itself as a benchmark in its activity in the 26 countries where its parent company is present. With its arrival in Spain, Protime plans to create 50 jobs distributed between Barcelona and Madrid.

Apart from this staff of 50 workers, the company will create an international hub in the city that will serve as a strategic connection center between Protime's different offices, drawing from the innovation ecosystem of the Catalan capital. In it, the company will bring together 250 employees who will work for the different countries in which it operates.

With its expansion through the acquisition of SoftMachine, which has 35 years of experience, the company reinforces its "ambition to become the best provider of workforce management solutions in Europe," highlighted Protime CEO, Gille Sebrechts. From SoftMachine, its founder, Òscar Bermejo, defended that the company has developed time management solutions since 1989: "By joining Protime, we will continue to achieve our goals and grow with our clients."

The company, which invoiced 50 million euros in 2023, manages the working time of more than 500,000 employees. With its entry into the Spanish market, Protime operates in eight countries in Europe, and reaches a team of more than 500 people, with a portfolio of 5,600 clients. Now, Protime's goal is to reach 10,000 clients in the next five years.

The multinational, founded in 1995, has arrived in Barcelona after its parent company opened a new headquarters in the city in October, with 900 square meters in the center of the Catalan capital. The company, which operates in 150 countries and has 82,000 companies as clients, has 7,000 employees and closed 2023 with a turnover of 858 million euros.
