Barcelona will shine like never before this Christmas. In a holiday season that will be characterized by the premiere of new lighting in Plaça Catalunya, Gran Via, and Aragó, the modernist complex of Sant Pau will also become another stop on the city's luminous route. The Christmas show Els llums de Sant Pau will debut this 2021 with a night walk featuring light games and illuminated figures.
The tour through Sant Pau will begin with audiovisual projections on the facades of the old hospital, in homage to the city's modernist architecture. Visitors will then be able to enjoy an immersive and sensory experience at other points along the route, such as the corridors of Sant Pau, which will become a gallery full of colors and fantasy. Other stops will be the magical forest, a paradise for birds; the skylight garden; the nativity scene or the tree where visitors can hang their New Year's wishes. The walk will end with a carousel attraction and a dining area.
Sant Pau will light up starting Monday, November 22, two days before the public lighting does. The show can be visited until Sunday, January 9. There will be passes every 30 minutes from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Admission will cost 12 euros from Monday to Thursday, and 15 euros from Friday to Sunday, holidays, and holiday eves.
The arrival of the show Els llums de Sant Pau in the Catalan capital was planned for last year, but restrictions postponed it. The company DEAG Deutsche Entertainment began doing these types of shows in Berlin in 2016. Currently, it has already been replicated in 15 other cities, including Valencia and Malaga, in addition to Barcelona. Handweker Promotion and the Barcelona-based Proactiv also participate.
