Games for a Living (G4AL), a video game development platform with blockchain technology, has raised 1.2 million euros in pre-seed funding. The funding round was led by venture capital funds Inveready and Bonsai Partners, as well as several business angels from the sector. Nuclio, the incubator led by entrepreneur and investor Carlos Blanco, also participated.
The company will launch Elemental Raiders in June, its first role-playing, action, and strategy video game, which allows players to fight with a wide variety of characters in turn-based combat, and enables users to earn cryptotokens and Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) while playing.
Founded by Manel Sort, the creator of King's Barcelona studio ---the firm responsible for the development of Candy Crush---, Games for a Living (G4AL) is also working on the video games Millionaire Wars, which will incorporate jewels in NFT format, and World War II Meta, a collectible card game within a metaverse set in World War II.
The platform's founding team is completed by Javier León, Art Director who was nominated for an Emmy award and included in the list of the 200 best digital artists in the world (according to Lürzer Archive's) for his 3D designs; Christian Gascons, COO, technical director and former Blizzard Entertainment employee, and Marc Tormo, Design Director who also worked at the American company.
In addition to creating and publishing video games, Games for a Living (G4AL) will contribute to the development of the blockchain gaming sector, with the launch of a video game engine for developers in the middle of the year. "We will not only launch video games for players, but we will also offer a video game engine based on our technology to external developers to bring their products to the blockchain while maintaining their quality, as no one in the market is offering the adequate resources," assures Manel Sort.
