Barcelona's entrepreneurial ecosystem adds a new strategic alliance to continue strengthening itself. Wayra, Telefónica's open innovation hub, and Zone2boost, the international innovation initiative of CaixaBank, Global Payments, Wordline, and Visa, have joined forces to reinforce their commitment to innovation and collaboration with startups.
Both initiatives, with physical spaces in Barcelona, will jointly organize activities, calls, and events in the city. All of this will serve to energize the ecosystem and generate more investment and business opportunities for Barcelona's startups, according to the promoters.
This alliance between Wayra and Zone2boost will also materialize in joint investment in emerging companies, with the aim of accelerating digital transformation at Telefónica, CaixaBank, Global Payments, Wordline, and Visa, and providing new business models. As a demonstration of the potential of this union, Wayra and Zone2boost have recalled recent investments they have made, such as that in Proppos, a startup that uses artificial intelligence to recognize any product in a store without having to scan it, or the pitch day they organized earlier this month in the city to meet new emerging companies and analyze potential synergies and business opportunities.
Likewise, Telefónica and the promoters of Zone2boost will become reference partners for the startups in which they will invest. Telefónica will offer them services and advice on connectivity, cloud, or cybersecurity, while collaborating with Zone2boost will allow them to access its resources and client portfolio, have a large distribution channel, improve their brand positioning, and gain visibility.
