The former CEO of Banco Sabadell, Jaume Guardiola, will replace Xavier Torra as president of the board of trustees of the Esade Foundation, where he was already a trustee. He will do so once Torra's current term ends, as planned, on July 12.

Guardiola will have to face the transformation process that the private economic institution is undergoing towards greater educational innovation, with the launch of new degrees and the incorporation of technological competencies in all programs. "We will continue working to offer the best educational experience, leveraged on technology, sustainability, diverse talent, internationalization, and connection with business. To do this, we update our academic methodology to new business and social challenges," explains the future president of the board of trustees.

Until last March, Guardiola was the CEO of Banco Sabadell, a position he held since 2007 and in which he has been replaced by César González-Bueno. With a long banking career, Guardiola maintains his connection with the entity as president of Banco Sabadell Mexico. Previously, his career was linked to the BBVA group where he was CEO of BBVA Puerto Rico, BBVA Banco Francés in Argentina, BBVA Bancomer in Mexico, and general director for Spain and Portugal.

Reinforcement of international talent and more scholarships

Under Torra's presidency, Esade has consolidated its ability to attract international talent, with 126 nationalities on its campuses in Barcelona, Sant Cugat, and Madrid, and exchange and collaboration agreements with 198 academic institutions.

Also, the number of scholarships has increased, reaching 296 students in the current academic year, representing 8.7% of the total. This growth has been possible thanks to the increase in funds allocated to these aids, which have amounted to 3.7 million euros.
