Six months after launching, in Barcelona, a factory to produce dental aligners (clear aligners) with 3D printers, the company Impress is considering a possible expansion after announcing it has closed a financing round of almost 100 million euros. This is an operation subscribed by the venture capital fund LBO France, Norgine Ventures, and Claret Capital Partners, who have joined investors who had already participated in previous rounds such as TA Ventures, Uniqa Ventures, and Nickleby Capital. The company has reported that within two months it will incorporate other investors who will contribute about 25 million euros more.
The resources will be allocated, in a first phase, to the expansion of the business in Europe, with the opening of new markets and the expansion of the network of dental centers, either through organic growth or with acquisitions and mergers, and boosting investments in technology.
Its digital assistance model is based on a network of hybrid clinics supported by a clinical team and vertically integrated technology. The startup assures that 80% of its clinics are profitable. Founded in 2019 in Barcelona, the business driven by Dr. Khaled Kasem and entrepreneurs Diliara and Vladimir Lupenko has 130 clinics in 8 countries, with a global workforce of more than 1,000 employees, 500 of them doctors specialized in orthodontics.
This structure, with an average of 60 daily clients in each center --according to information provided by the company itself--, the factory in the Zona Franca in Barcelona expects to close this year with a production of two million dental appliances.
Impress offers its clients a mobile application that allows patients and doctors to interact remotely to follow the treatment of invisible orthodontics. Recently, it has enabled a paid subscription model that allows for oral health care services after treatment. The company expects to sell this service to 20,000 subscribers in the next year after having sold 1,000 during the first month of its launch.
