Glovo is preparing a new change of corporate headquarters to cope with its growth, which has once again made its current facilities in Barcelona's 22@ district too small. The company led by Oscar Pierre has just announced the rental of new offices of 30,000 square meters on Badajoz Street, which it expects to open by the end of 2022.

This is one of the largest operations signed this year in Barcelona's tertiary sector, which is booming after the halt caused by the pandemic. Since January, office leasing in Barcelona has grown by 79%, with demand at the end of September reaching 228,300 square meters leased, mainly in 22@, according to a recent study by Cushman & Wakefield. Among the main transactions announced this year are the rental of 20,000 square meters by the multinational Webhelp to install its new corporate headquarters in Barcelona and the relocation of T-Systems' headquarters to a new real estate complex promoted by Meridia Capital, where it will occupy 7,500 square meters.

Glovo's new international headquarters will be located on the Mile 22@ business campus, located on the Badajoz axis and promoted by Freo Group. In a first phase, it will be able to house more than 3,000 employees, a figure that the ultra-fast delivery company expects to reach by the end of 2023. Currently, about 1,700 people work at Glovo's headquarters in 22@; the firm's global workforce exceeds 3,400 professionals if the rest of the offices in other cities are added.

"From Barcelona, the strategy and technological development for the 24 countries in which Glovo is present will continue to be defined," highlights the company, which assures that the new Mile 22@ complex will allow for future expansions. The firm emphasizes that the 30,000 square meter property it has rented is equipped with the highest sustainability standards, to maximize energy savings, minimum water consumption, and energy generation through solar panels.

"Barcelona trusted Glovo and, thanks to that support, in just six years a small errand pilot has become a multi-category platform with international presence. We will continue to bet on the city where we were born because we believe that, by working together, Barcelona will continue to be an international benchmark in economic growth, a driver of the entrepreneurial ecosystem and a pole of attraction for talent," highlighted Oscar Pierre, CEO and co-founder of Glovo, present in 1,100 cities in 24 countries.

Glovo's new landlord, Freo, is a German fund manager that has been operating in Spain since 2015 and has made the Mile 22@ development its most emblematic project. It is a campus designed by BCA Arquitectos and composed of three buildings, two of which have been leased to Glovo: Mile Àvila, located at the corner of Àvila and Llull streets with an area of 16,524 m², and Mile Llull, at the corner of Llull and Badajoz streets with an area of 13,625 m². The operation was brokered by the consultancy JLL.
