Barcelona is starting to smell like Christmas: the lights are up, the city's Christmas proposals are taking shape, and preparations are being finalized to turn on the lighting in a week. And the program cannot be complete without events that have joined the list of winter season essentials in the city in recent years, such as Els Llums de Sant Pau, which open their doors until January 12.

And their doors open this year to a renewed proposal, which will transform the Sant Pau Modernist Enclosure into the setting for a journey through different Christmas traditions from around the world, inviting visitors to discover different ways of celebrating Christmas.

The fourth edition of the event will offer a new experience with a more interactive route, where sensory installations will not be missing. With a soundtrack created for the occasion, the journey will review traditions from countries such as Mexico, Greece, India, Italy, New Zealand, Argentina, and the United States, without forgetting local traditions, such as the tió and the Three Wise Men.

The journey begins with projections on the facade and a large hot air balloon as the starting point of the experience. Visitors will delve into Christmas through various cultures and through installations such as a tunnel of light where they can hang lamps and wishes.

In this edition, Els Llums de Sant Pau collaborates with the Enriqueta Villavecchia Foundation, which works in the care of children with incurable diseases. A Christmas tree will give visibility to the entity's work, and visitors will have the possibility to make donations to support the foundation during the purchase process.

A passport and a guide as novelties

The proposal, organized by Proactiv Entertainment, DEAG, and Handwerker Promotion, will include another novelty this year: the journey can be documented with a Christmas passport that can be stamped at each experience. This document will allow visitors to learn curiosities about different Christmas traditions, with the aim that each light installation becomes a new cultural discovery.

In addition, visitors will be accompanied during the tour by Llumi, a star who will act as a guide for Els Llums de Sant Pau for the first time. The character will be present throughout the experience through an LED screen, guiding visitors through the route.

Also as a novelty, this year the event will offer a gastronomic proposal with Christmas appetizers and sweets, including hot chocolate and mulled wine, inspired by Nordic Christmas markets. There will also be space for waffles, popcorn, and cotton candy, and to buy plush toys from a collection inspired by Christmas sweets, the Nadalets. In addition, the little ones can hand in their letters to a Christmas postman, in an event that has attracted more than 620,000 visitors in its three previous editions, consolidated as a key event of the Christmas season in Barcelona.
