Damm invests 25 million in expanding the El Prat factory

The brewing company will launch a new can packaging line in May, which will lead to the creation of 50 jobs.

Damm reactivates investments in its El Prat de Llobregat factory, its largest production center. The brewing group completed an investment cycle of 64 million euros in 2020, which allowed it to increase production capacity by 45%, and has now allocated an additional 25 million euros to launch a new can packaging line.

The company, chaired by Demetrio Carceller, has built new facilities spanning 11,600 square meters that house the packaging line and a tanker loading and unloading system, with the most advanced technology in the sector and criteria of maximum energy efficiency. The project will create 50 additional jobs throughout 2022.

According to Damm, the expansion will be launched in May, will be used to package cans for all the company's brands, and responds to the need to "meet the growing demand" for this commercial format.

The Barcelona-based brewing group assures that all cans used have a double certification that guarantees the highest environmental, ethical, and social standards for the entire aluminum chain, from its production to the manufacturing of the cans, beer brewing, and recycling. No plastic will be used, as all packs will be grouped with cardboard or biodegradable cardboard rings.

According to La Vanguardia, the expansion is built on the 50,000 square meter plot where the historic Trident chewing gum factory, owned by Adams (Cadbury), was located until 2012, and which Damm bought, being adjacent to its production complex, to carry out future expansions.

The brewing group has launched a new strategic plan for the 2022-2025 period that aims to reach revenues of 2,000 million euros and multiply the presence of the Barcelona brand in the foreign market. The 2020 fiscal year ended with revenues of 1,225 million, an 11.5% decrease due to the pandemic.
