CZFB and Fundació Avan ally to create a new reference center in neurology

The new space, which will be located in Terrassa, will offer therapeutic and support services to children and adolescents affected by neurological diseases and their families

To provide neurorehabilitation, awareness, dissemination, and support services to children and adolescents affected by neurology-related diseases and their families. With this objective, the Consorci de la Zona Franca de Barcelona (CZFB) and the Fundació Avan have signed a collaboration agreement to materialize a new therapeutic and support space, which will be able to attend to some 60 patients per year.

The agreement, signed at the facilities of DFactory by the special delegate of the State in the CZFB, Pere Navarro, and the president of the foundation, Cristina Urriza, foresees that this new space will become a reference center in the field of neurology. The space, located in Terrassa and named Petit Avan, will open in the Pont Aurell Armengol industrial warehouse, ceded by the City Council.

The center will be launched after adapting the industrial warehouse and will have 150 square meters that will house a gym and a climbing wall, among other spaces. These facilities will be equipped with specific material for neurorehabilitation, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy specific for children and young people, in a center that has the support of the Generalitat, the Diputación de Barcelona, the Terrassa City Council, and European Next Generation funds.

The project and the collaboration of the CZFB will allow the launch of "an ideal space to offer necessary therapies to improve the daily lives" of those affected by these diseases, according to the president of the foundation, who annually attends to 1,150 people in the four centers it has in Catalonia. Founded in Terrassa in 1993, the entity "carries out a vital work," according to Navarro, who has advocated for moving towards an inclusive and respectful society that offers opportunities and a better quality of life to all its members.
