New step for Bookline in its international expansion. The startup, which automates restaurant and accommodation reservations by phone using AI agents, has closed an investment round of 3.5 million euros, with a focus on the internationalization of its technology.
The round, led by ICF Capital together with Sabadell Venture Capital and Faraday Venture Partners, will be used to boost this international expansion, especially looking at southern Europe and Latin America. At a European level, the company prioritizes the United Kingdom, Italy, France, and Portugal, while on the other side of the Atlantic it is now focusing mainly on Mexico, Colombia, and Chile.
Bookline is thus committed to consolidating itself in markets where, in fact, it already has clients, as it currently has 1,700 in the main European and Latin American markets. The startup plans to continue increasing this figure to almost 2,000 restaurants and 500 accommodations by the end of 2025, and thus reach around four million euros in turnover.
In addition to accelerating its internationalization, the startup aims to boost the development of new products. "With this investment round, we want to consolidate Bookline as the strategic partner of reference for hotels, restaurants, and mobility companies in Europe and Latin America," highlights Bookline founder, Joan Salvatella.
"Our goal is to continue innovating to help our clients improve their profitability and take advantage of the opportunities that direct contact with the client gives them," according to Salvatella, who founded the startup with Fede Buldin in 2019. In addition to international expansion and new products, the funds will be allocated to the hiring of talent and technological development, especially in AI applied to hospitality.
Bookline has a team of more than 50 professionals and has managed 10 million interactionsThus, Bookline plans to reinforce its technology, with which the startup "can become a new example of international leadership emerging from the Catalan ecosystem", saccording to the director of the venture capital area of the ICF, Emilio Gómez. For his part, the deputy general director of Banco Sabadell andmanagingdirector of BS Capital, Raúl Rodríguez, has highlighted "the potential of conversational artificial intelligence to transform less digitized sectors such as hospitality." With this technology, according to Faraday's investment manager, Olimpia Carabel, Bookline positions itself as a player "capable of transforming the way restaurants interact with their customers."
The round comes after Bookline managed more than 100 million euros in telephone reservations for restaurants last year, and more than 350 million euros in requests in the hotel sector. The company, which has a team of more than 50 professionals, has managed more than 10 million contacts with users through its AI agents, which have translated into reservations for restaurants, hotels, and campsites, with the aim of transforming the way they interact with their customers.
