Aigües de Barcelona has expanded its network of Dinapsis innovation centers with an operational hub in Barcelona to deepen the promotion and development of a model of smarter and more sustainable cities, with a focus on improving people's quality of life, in a context of climate emergency.
Dinapsis Barcelona is part of a larger network of innovation centers spread across Spain. The new Barcelona hub is based on digital transformation aimed at creating more sustainable, intelligent, and resilient cities, through the intelligent use of data as a backbone for decision-making, seeking "green and transformative solutions" for the integrated water cycle.
"The great challenges facing current society will be easier to overcome with the support of innovation, technology, and digital tools," said Agbar's president, Ángel Simón, during the official inauguration of the new facilities. "The great challenges facing current society will be easier to overcome with the support of innovation, technology, and digital tools, but also with anticipation and with public-private collaboration within the corresponding governance framework for the necessary decision-making," he added.
The company specified that Dinapsis is made up of an operational hub, which includes a planning center, a pool of experts oriented to centralized technical decision-making, and a control center; a suite of Digital Services as the backbone of digital transformation, and a space for co-creation and alliances aimed at promoting innovation in the face of major social and environmental challenges.
In this line of fostering greener and healthier cities, Aigües de Barcelona acts to minimize the real impacts of climate change through various innovative tools managed from the operational control center, with digital early warning systems for climatic or environmental episodes, which aim to minimize the real impacts of climate change.
The new center will join the work areas already initiated in terms of Resilient Water and on the IoT 4 Climate Change project, which focuses on initiatives that contribute to the deployment of IoT (Internet of Things) devices to improve the urban water cycle, as well as the sustainability and environment of the city.
