Yaba is born to grow companies that sell on Amazon

Ulabox co-founders, David Baratech and Sergi de Pablos, are driving this new startup, accompanied by Rubén Ferreiro, Alejandro Fresneda, and Patxi Archanco. They will dedicate themselves to buying small and medium-sized companies that market their products through the e-commerce giant to help them gain efficiency.

More and more people are solving all kinds of needs on Amazon. The e-commerce giant is also adding more and more sellers who use the platform to bring their products to a very large universe of users. Those who do so in the home, beauty, and baby and pet care verticals may attract the interest of Yaba, the first aggregator of Amazon sellers for Southern Europe.

This startup will be dedicated to buying, financing, and scaling small and medium-sized businesses that market their products on Amazon. After acquiring them, Yaba will create a structure that will improve the efficiency of the buying and selling process and the overall performance of the company, changing the operation of aspects such as logistics or advertising. Initially, it will focus its purchasing strategy on Southern Europe and Latin America, although it does not rule out expanding its focus to Southeast Asia.

Yaba has been promoted by entrepreneurs Rubén Ferreiro, president of the Viko group and founding partner of Lanai Partners; David Baratech, co-founder of Ulabox and founding partner of Toubkal Partners, and Alejandro Fresneda, co-founder of MrNoow and Woffu. Ferreiro will be the president of the new startup and Baratech and Fresneda, the co-CEOs. The management team is completed by Ulabox co-founder Sergi de Pablos and Patxi Archanco, with experience at JPMorgan, Impulsa Capital, and Kiwoko.

"Approximately 60% of the products sold daily on the Amazon platform are sold by third parties. At Yaba, we target this audience and we know that the growth margin and potential are immense," says Ferreiro. "This is a very nascent sector in Spain and Southern Europe in general, and we want to lead its implementation in these markets," he adds.

The startup aims to consolidate an annual sales volume close to 20 million euros in the coming months. It also plans to create a portfolio of more than 100 companies in the next four years. For now, it has started operating by acquiring two companies. Currently, it has a staff of seven employees distributed between Barcelona, where it is headquartered, Madrid, and Mexico City.
