New major operation in 22@. This time it is not a sale, but the rental of 20,000 square meters that the multinational Webhelp has just signed to install its new corporate headquarters in Barcelona. The customer service and business process outsourcing group will move to a new building promoted by Acciona and the pan-European real estate investment manager Tristan Capital located at Selva de Mar street number 125.
Currently, Webhelp's Spanish subsidiary, heir to the former Sellbytel, is already in 22@, in a building on Diagonal near Glòries, but the company has opted to move to the northern area of the city's technological district, the most emerging and where most new real estate developments are currently concentrated.
Acciona announced in January 2020 that it had partnered with Tristan Capital to promote an office complex on Selva de Mar street with an area of 31,000 square meters and an investment of more than 100 million euros. The complex is expected to be completed before the end of 2021 and will have four buildings certified with the highest environmental and energy efficiency standards.
From 22@ Webhelp works for more than a hundred companies that last year generated revenues of 185 million euros, a 23% more. The Spanish subsidiary, chaired by Helena Guardans, employs 5,000 people and also has operational centers in Malaga, Mallorca, Valencia and Tenerife.
"After a year of pandemic and teleworking, to which we have adapted with the greatest flexibility, we take this step with a new purpose for our offices. The purpose of the new workplace will be to provide an inspiring space that strengthens cultural connection, learning, the bond with clients and colleagues; and that fosters creativity and innovation among our employees," explained Guardans after the signing of the agreement, mediated by Cushman & Wakefield.
The multinational company of French origin has its origins in the old call centers or call attention centers, although currently this business has become enormously sophisticated as a consequence of the digitalization process of the economy and now the service is provided from any channel. Thus, Webhelp, which has grown with multiple acquisitions and had a turnover of 1.6 billion in 2020, claims to be "a global leader in customer experience (CX) and a provider of business solutions and process outsourcing." The multinational has 75,000 employees and a presence in 50 countries.
Webhelp's new corporate headquarters in Spain will have LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Platinum certification, will be equipped with solar panels and will have secure parking for bicycles and scooters; charging stations for all types of electric vehicles, an Amazon package pick-up point, and green areas on the terraces and inside the building. The 20,000 square meters rented will be distributed among shared work rooms; collaboration spaces; silent zones; multidisciplinary spaces for yoga or meditation; lactation rooms; showers; own canteens and terraces.
