Reinvention. It is one of the words that the pandemic has made most fashionable, and many startups, like the Catalan Nannyfy, have had to do so. This company, specialized in providing parents with babysitting services, has adapted and expanded its business following the lockdown suffered by the population in 2020. Thus, it has now also become a virtual platform for care, entertainment, and socialization for children between 3 and 12 years old.
Wayra X was born in November 2020 and, in addition to Nannyfy, its portfolio includes the startups Peoople and Blabla. "A purely digital project like Nannyfy has a place in every home and is key to facilitating family reconciliation, especially in a scenario where teleworking is gaining weight. It is a winning team and proposal," assures Luisa Rubio, head of Wayra X.
New funding round in April
Until now, Nannyfy had managed to raise 1.1 million euros in funding since 2019. Wayra X has not specified the investment made in the company, but assures that the edtech (educational technology) platform plans to launch another capital increase between April and June.
Much has changed for the company since De la Riva decided in 2018 to create an online home babysitting service where parents can rely on ratings and reviews made by other users. The arrival of covid forced the firm to transform and also offer a remote nanny service to entertain children, although its traditional service also continued to increase for parents who could not telework and had no one to leave their children with.
The reinvention has consisted of the launch of NannyFun, a digital learning method for the little ones that offers monthly courses and daily programmed activities that enhance cognitive stimulation, creativity, and emotional intelligence. With the help of expert nannies in each field, for example, English classes, yoga or guitar, homemade crafts, all kinds of games, scientific activities, and even cooking courses are offered.
The service is based on a subscription or pay-per-use model and is provided through a video call in groups of up to five children grouped by age and type of activity, which also encourages them to socialize while learning and having fun.
Thanks to having carried out this adaptation of its business, Nannyfy has skyrocketed its turnover, with average monthly growth rates of 48%. Likewise, the views of its videos have increased by an average of 111% monthly during the last three months. The startup also has a division specialized in offering services for companies aimed at improving the family reconciliation of their employees.
