Vicio has opened a new corporate headquarters of 1,100 square meters in the central Gràcia neighborhood of Barcelona. The home delivery burger company founded by Aleix Puig and Oriol de Pablo, has transformed the old Helena Theater into modern offices that, in addition to being a workspace, they want to turn into a powerful talent acquisition tool. The two giant white slides that preside over the central agora are a declaration of intent in this regard: "We have converted an old theater into what we have always wanted, a place to work at the highest level and have fun equally," as Puig ---winner of Mastechef in 2017--- highlighted on social media.
According to Vicio, to face the current "period of hypergrowth" it is necessary to have facilities that are also "a decompression route for the entire staff" of the delivery firm. Thus, in addition to slides, the central area of Vicio's new headquarters features a DJ station, a piano, a large table, and a tiered area to encourage employee interaction and a collaborative and creative environment. The 1,100 square meters are distributed over four floors and also house a cafeteria, meeting rooms, and flexible work areas.
The architecture studio External Reference, led by Carmelo Zappulla, has been in charge of designing the interior of the new offices, where white predominates, combined with red, the corporate color of the V and the logo that identifies the brand. "The best ideas, at the base of the most remarkable business successes, arise from intertwined creative processes, fostered by spontaneous exchanges between individuals. That is why we wanted to recreate a workspace that offered in itself this fluid and dynamic experience, linked to the brand's identity," explained Zappulla, who has focused on the concept of "fun and serendipity at work."
The Barcelona-based online burger brand, which operates through the Glovo platform, has grown from 6 to almost 700 employees in just three years, extending its presence to a large part of Spain. Of this staff, more than 60 will work in the new Gràcia headquarters, from where the brand's ambitious expansion plan is piloted, one of the fastest-growing in Spain in the delivery segment.
Vicio has just announced its entry into two new metropolitan cities, Badalona and Sant Just Desvern, which has led to the hiring of 40 more people. With these two new openings, in the Barcelona area, Vicio will now have nine locations for preparing online orders and take away. The company's next big challenge is the opening of emblematic restaurants, not focused on delivery, which also, but on consumption at the premises itself. External Reference is also working on the conceptualization of these new establishments.
Last April, Vicio closed a Series A financing round for an amount of 17 million euros to finance its growth. The capital increase was led by the Catalan investment firm Iris Ventures, and several football players also participated, such as Leo Messi, Antoine Griezmann, Sergio Busquets, and Sergi Roberto, who have invested in Vicio through the second fund launched by Barlon Capital, an investment firm in startups led by Javier Rubió, co-founder of Cluster and of the Nauta and Galdana funds.
Vicio, which has expanded to cities such as Madrid, Valencia, Seville, Malaga, Zaragoza, and Palma, explained after the closing of the round that its goal for 2023 was to double its turnover, to place revenues above 40 million euros.
