To support the sheep farming sector. With this objective, Buscando a Paquito arrives in Barcelona, a campaign in which about 200 bars and restaurants in the city participate, having incorporated a Paquito or sandwich made with lamb meat into their menu. Each bar has prepared a different recipe adjusting to its style, but lamb is the main ingredient. Tapas 24, Bodega Pasaje, Bar Alegría, Bar Borrell, Yeti, Claris 118, El Filete Ruso, La Mundana, El Velódromo, Fishology, Granja Elena, La Flauta or Sants es Crema are some of the establishments participating in this promotional action, which arrives in Barcelona after having also been carried out in Madrid in 2019 and in Valencia in 2020.

The idea of going to a bar to eat a Paquito has been developed by Interovic, the Agri-Food Interprofessional of Sheep and Goats, and has the support of the European Union. "It's about creating a new moment for the consumption of suckling lamb, lamb, and kid meat," highlights this employers' association, which wants to de-seasonalize the purchase of lamb and bring this type of meat closer to younger consumers. "Rejuvenating the demand for lamb is necessary to guarantee the future of pastoralism," emphasize the promoters, who stress the idea that sheep farming provides a great benefit to rural areas. Thus, sheep are key, for example, in fire prevention and forest management, as the areas where they graze become firebreaks.

"El Paquito combines tradition, a product that has always been eaten in our homes, with modernity," explains Raúl Muñiz, president of Interovic, who highlights that the initiative also wants to contribute to helping reactivate consumption in bars and restaurants.
