Toyota Material Handling España has laid the first stone of its new headquarters, which will move from Barberà del Vallès to Sabadell to respond to the growth it is experiencing. The new warehouse, which is currently under construction, will be owned by the developer ICC. The operation has had the technical advice of Savills. The work is expected to be completed in 2024.
The multinational, dedicated to the sale and rental of industrial forklifts, has been present in the country since 2007, the year it settled in Barberà del Vallès. In Spain, it does not have any factories, which are concentrated in Europe in France, Switzerland and Italy. "We have needed to expand the facilities of our central headquarters in Spain, counting on this new space to respond to it," says the general director of the subsidiary, Joan Catalan. "With this warehouse we improve both in terms of capacity and in terms of technical service and customer proximity," he adds.
Among the advances it will incorporate, it will have a demonstration area of more than 1,000 square meters, where products from its portfolio can be shown to customers. In addition, the spare parts area of the warehouse will triple its current size, reaching more than 2,100 square meters, which the company says will improve after-sales service. About 290 professionals will work in the new headquarters, which will include offices, a workshop, a spare parts area and after-sales services.
The company has decided to settle in the Sant Pau de Riu-Sec industrial park in Sabadell due to factors such as proximity to roads such as the C-58 and the AP-7, in addition to having specifically created facilities. The Toyota Material Handling headquarters will occupy 16,500 square meters of a plot with a total of 37,272 square meters. The developer ICC expects another company to settle in the other half of the plot.
In the industrial park where the multinational will be located, companies such as Ikea, Leroy Merlin, and MediaMarkt are already present. "Our goal is to create the necessary conditions for companies to settle in Sabadell and commit to the territory so that they create jobs and generate wealth that allows us to redistribute it and make equal opportunities possible. The fact that a company like Toyota Material Handling establishes its headquarters in Sabadell is a success," says its mayor, Marta Farrés.
