Palabra de perro: Cervantes seen through Juan Mayorga

  • Teatre Romea
  • All weekend
  • Tickets available here

Teatre Romea presents Palabra de perro, an adaptation by award-winning dramatist Juan Mayorga based on El coloquio de los perros (The Dialogue of the Dogs), one of Miguel de Cervantes's Exemplary Novels. Directed by Rakel Camacho and starring Cecilia Solaguren, Jimmy Castro, and Jorge Kent, the production revisits the figures of Scipio and Berganza, two dogs granted the gift of speech.

Stripped bare, the two characters uncover with wit and acumen the contradictions, shortcomings, and minor vices of the society around them. The piece turns speech into a vehicle to question who holds the right to speak the truth and how fragile concepts like morality, justice, and deceit are built.
