Criteria Caixa is starting to see the fruits of its new strategic plan, with which it is committed to strengthening its presence in strategic companies such as Naturgy and Telefónica. The gross value of its assets has reached historical levels and has reached more than 30,300 million euros in 2024, 14.5% more than last year.

The figure has been boosted by both net investments (1,780 million euros) and revaluations (1,051 million euros). In 2024, the company chaired by Isidro Fainé entered the capital of ACS and Puig, in addition to strengthening its position in Colonial and Telefónica.

The investment arm of Fundación La Caixa has set a target to reach an asset value of 40,000 million by 2030. In line with its strategic plan, the company has made investments worth 4,000 million euros and divestments close to 2,200 million euros throughout last year.

In addition, the business holding company led by Ángel Simón has also registered records in the dividends it has received from its investee companies. Among others, it owns 31% of the capital of CaixaBank. Specifically, they have amounted to 1,878 million euros, 69% more than in 2023 and above forecasts.

In the last fiscal year, the holding company, which recently returned its registered office to Barcelona, has registered a net profit of 1,061 million euros in 2024, 30% more than in the previous year. Gross debt stands at 5,288 million euros and the net debt ratio has been reduced to 13.2%, with the aim of reaching 10% by 2030.

Historical budget for Fundación La Caixa

The president of Criteria, Isidro Fainé, has indicated that the increase in dividends received will allow Fundación La Caixa to have the largest budget in its history, with 655 million euros. "These results reflect Criteria's financial strength to continue the group's industrial trajectory and continue contributing to social progress," he stated. "We are the main investment group in Spain, generating economic growth and impacting people," added its CEO, Ángel Simón.

The holding company's strategic plan contemplates contributing 700 million euros in dividends to the foundation, Criteria's sole shareholder, by 2030. Last year it delivered a dividend of 430 million euros.
