The Swiss-born chemical company Archroma is redoubling its commitment to its plant in El Prat de Llobregat. Coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the Catalan factory, the company will invest 20 million euros over three years to reinforce the production capacity of the plant, which in this half-century has played a relevant role in the company's expansion into the rest of Europe.
During this period, the Prat plant has become a key reference point for the group. So much so that the factory is one of the company's largest facilities globally, with 325 workers and an annual capacity of 70,000 tons. Of the total production, 20% is sold on the peninsula, while 80% is exported to other European countries.
With the expansion plan for the plant, its production capacity will add an additional 32,000 tons. This expansion will also affect the number of employees, and its workforce will incorporate 30 more people into the company, a leader in specialized chemical products for the paper, packaging, and textile industries.
The company, which has 140 years of history, has more than 4,500 employees in 42 countries globally, distributed in 30 production centers specialized in chemistry. In this sense, Catalonia is one of the main centers in Europe for the chemical industry, with more than 2,300 companies, more than 40,000 direct jobs, and annual revenues exceeding 18,000 million euros.
In this context, the company reinforces its commitment to the Prat factory, as highlighted by the CEO of Archroma Packaging Technologies, Sameer Singla: "Our continued investment in the region demonstrates our strong commitment to our customers and our confidence in the growth prospects of the paper, packaging, and textile markets in Europe."
