The startup specialized in sun protection Roka Furadada has joined the effort to humanize hospital ICUs, and has done so together with Hospital del Mar. The company has donated a first batch of sun protection cream to the center for its ICU patients participating in therapeutic outings to the sea.
The batch that the startup Roka Furadada has delivered to the hospital is factor 30 and uses its Roka Smart UV technology, in 30-milliliter bottles. This donation continues the collaboration of the cosmetic ingredients company with the hospital, which began in September of last year.
These therapeutic outings reduce stress and improve the experience of ICU patients, especially those who spend long periods hospitalized. The ICU humanization program promoted by Hospital del Mar also includes music therapy sessions, the company of therapeutic animals, and the use of virtual reality in patient rehabilitation.
"The collaboration between industry and different foundations to make possible the comprehensive development of our humanization program in the ICU is fundamental," highlighted the head of the Intensive Medicine Service of Hospital del Mar, Dr. Joan Ramon Masclans.
Roka Furadada has praised the work of the ICUs "not only saving lives, but caring for and being there for patients". This is according to Judit Camargo, CEO of the Deep Tech startup that has been developing and producing new cosmetic ingredients since 2019. It does so from Barcelona with the aim of reducing the incidence of skin cancer and other skin diseases caused by sun exposure.
