The hotel group Sircle Collection chose Barcelona to locate its first private club, The Sircle, designed for entrepreneurs who wanted to find a place to telework, as well as attend networking activities and go to the gym. The Sir Victor hotel, on Rosselló street, on the corner with Paseo de Gràcia, readapted its facilities to accommodate this new use. The commitment is part of the crisis that the coronavirus has caused in the sector, an impact that is even stronger in an establishment that had opened its doors the summer before the outbreak of the pandemic. After more than half a year in operation, this model tested in the Catalan capital will be replicated this year in other hotels that the chain has in European cities such as Amsterdam and Vienna, as well as in the new establishments it will open in Berlin and Lisbon.
"The Sircle was born as an innovative response to covid, which has greatly changed people's lives, professionally, but also personally. We observed that as a result of the pandemic, people felt the need to belong to a community and, at the same time, have a workspace outside the home or a place where they could pamper their body and mind," explains the global director of Culture and Members at The Sircle, Myriel Walter.
The hotel group, founded in Amsterdam in 2011 by businessman Liram Wizman, chose Barcelona to start this new activity because "the city represents the spirit that inspired the creation of this private members' club: an environment for creative talents always ready to welcome those who are willing to exchange and share ideas, aspirations and projects."
The private club The Sircle is aimed at both Barcelona entrepreneurs and foreign professionals working in the city, without focusing on any specific sector. "We have professionals from fields as diverse as culture, design, technology, gastronomy, finance, fashion...", Walter points out. With a monthly fee of 140 euros and a registration fee of 450 euros, members of this private club have access to a coworking space and private areas, as well as the hotel's gym and spa.
They are also offered the option to rent private offices and meeting rooms starting from 50 euros, and they have discounts for organizing events, staying at any Sircle Collection hotel, or dining at Sir Victor's restaurants. The Sircle has not wanted to specify how many members it has managed to add since its inauguration in June last year and only states that they are growing organically daily. For those under 30, the fee is reduced to 90 euros per month and the entrance fee to 250 euros.
Without specifying the investment made, the spaces that the Sir Victor hotel has converted for this new use are located on the first and sixth floors. On the first floor, there is a 170-square-meter co-working area, where there used to be a space designed for hotel guests to sit and read. On the sixth floor, a total of ten rooms have been set up as private meeting spaces. On this floor, there is also an area where leisure activities are organized for club members.
