The Parc de l'Alba adds another 127 protected flats around the Synchrotron

The Fem Ciutat cooperative will invest five million euros in a development that is part of the transformation of Plana del Castell, one of the most ambitious urban projects in the metropolitan area

The Parc de l'Alba in Cerdanyola del Vallès takes another step in its urban transformation. The Catalan Land Institute (Incasòl) and the Fem Ciutat cooperative have signed the sale of a plot located next to the Bòbila football field to build a development of 127 subsidized housing units, which will include shops on the ground floor.

With a planned investment of close to five million euros, the start of works is scheduled for the end of 2025. The project will be integrated into an environment that already foresees two more developments from the same cooperative, and from Llau Unió Catalonia on the adjacent plot, with 85 and 198 homes respectively, all subsidized and intended for sale.

The new development is part of the transformation of the Plana del Castell, a historically agricultural environment that, in a few years, has become one of the most ambitious urban projects in the metropolitan area, with the presence of the Alba Synchrotron as a catalyst.

This planning for the Parc de l'Alba foresees more than 5,000 homes, half of which are subsidized, as well as public facilities, green areas, and direct connections with Sant Cugat and the metropolitan road network, in addition to a residence for Synchrotron workers.

The project contributes to making the Parc de l'Alba "a balanced space between residence, work, and services", according to Fem Ciutat. In this sense, the cooperative argues that "the challenge is not only to build homes, but to build a neighborhood from day zero."

With the new development and those already planned in the area, Fem Ciutat and Llau Unió Catalonia alone will add more than 400 new protected homes in the Parc de l'Alba in a few years. Other ongoing projects will configure an urban district with balanced density and proximity services, connected to the economic and scientific fabric.

The objective is for this new space not to be just a residential extension, but a pole of attraction capable of retaining talent and offering quality of life to workers in the area and researchers at the Synchrotron.
